[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've wanted a security system for a better sense of security for our family and it delivers. If we had this last year, we could have found out who hit my parked car! After using it for a few days, I am supremely impressed. The picture quality is VERY GOOD, crystal clear, and the terabyte of storage gives you the ability to record 24/7. The night vision is also super clear. It's actually learned our faces and will tell us when a stranger approaches our house which is really cool. Customer service has been stellar. I had a few questions during set up and called customer service and was on the phone with a tech within a minute. Another really cool thing is the security cameras also act as a motion-activated floodlight, which is very useful at night when I'm taking the garbage out. The app on the phone is straightforward and easy to use. It's really nice especially at night because we can pull it up whenever we want and see what's going on outside. It's also pretty cool to see what animals are wandering around at night. Installation was easier than I expected. With a drill and some good cable runway, it's pretty easy and straightforward.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just what we needed for video security. It can be hooked to your wifi network, or kept completely off the net. The setup took about 20 minutes, each camera has 60ft of wire, and it's own DVR. It needs to be hooked up to your own tv or pc monitor. but everything else is included. When you set it up, you password protect it, which is another great feature.
I recently purchase the 4K Ultra Wired 10 camera system and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. My home is now protected by crystal clear 4K security. It was easy to connect and set up! I'll be ordering more product and referring friends and family.
WOW! Awesome buy! I had the installer put all 8 cameras inside and outside around my house. I love the feature on the app where you can shut off the spotlights because I really didn't want the lights in my house but absolutely wanted them on all outdoor cameras! The lights are super bright which I love so it's like a deterrent for anyone who comes on my property!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My current security system is a single camera so I have been looking for a good upgrade. When I had the opportunity to try the Night Owl 12 Channel 4K DP8 Series 2TB DVR system (comes with six cameras) I took it. Overall the system looks nice, has a clear picture, and was a pretty easy install if you don't mind entering your attic. I do have a couple of issues that are more like personal opinions which I will address later. In the box – The camera system basically comes with everything you will need for install with the exception of any junction boxes or wall plates you may wish to use. That said you get the DVR itself, six cameras, an HMDI cable, an RJ45 cable, a mouse, six 60' rolls of camera cable, and the power adapters/splitters. Everything was well packaged to protect from damage. Installation – While I will not go deep into details on my installation, suffice to say I installed mine at the tops of the walls where I wanted them and ran the cables through the soffits. The lengths of cable supplied should be sufficient for most homes if you plan out the install first. I chose to place the DVR in a central location in the house which just happened to coincide with the location of my router. I also decided to have the mouse and monitor (which you supply) located in another room. This was solved with a 32' USB extension and a 50' HDMI cable. As I am comfortable crawling through my attic the install was pretty easy, the hardest part was at the camera connections on the DVR as the screw on connectors are super close, but this could just be my big hands. Use – The DVR displays several different formats for the camera layout and the controls for LED, motion recording, continuous recording ETC are intuitive. The camera quality is good even with my less than 4k monitor. The camera will switch to black and white in absence of a light source and the built in LED spot lights seem to work ok but the range seems to be best within around 40' of the cameras. Personally I just leave the LED spotlights off as the black and white seems to work well enough for the two cameras that are not in light. Final thoughts, this is an all around great camera system. If there are any drawbacks in my mind it is that the camera lack IR which nowadays is standard on most camera systems, and that the camera housings are plastic. My concern about the plastic housings is that where I live in Florida the sun seems to quickly destroy plastic, usually in a matter of a few years. Other than my couple of reservations this is a great product!
Installation was super easy since I was upgrading from an older night owl system and used the same wires. DVR interface is really nice. I don't really care for the mobile app. It takes too many steps to get to the live view. Record sensitivity isn't as accurate as my old system did which is disappointing but overall it is satisfactory.

Not so good...the cables! It was not difficult to install. My husband and I installed all the cameras by our self, but all those cables where a hassle. The hard work pays off!
Bought this system on a recommendation from son the tech. Un pack and plugged all in. Everything worked well. Ordered a doorbell to go with. Only problem is a missing security set screw that holds the frame secure over the unit.
We have owned the night our security system for several years, we are on our third system. The last system that finally wore out this week we purchased in 2017 and utilized The night owl HD app. I utilize an old tablet as a monitor in my work area so that I can see when I have deliveries. The tablet is mounted and displayed my four primary cameras throughout the day uninterrupted. It is too far from the system itself to use a cable to have the normal monitoring. This app is absolutely useless for a constant monitoring. It shuts down right at the most inapt time and then takes forever going through all the steps to get it back up and running again. Basically this app is made my system useless for my every day use and is making me reconsider night owls system.
I had to replace a night owl camera that went bad so I purchased another one which I had to buy two but after getting it hooked up realized it is NOT in color like the other ones were. Aside from that I like night owl and their products just wish all 4 of my cameras wee in color and not just 3 of them are.
