This is a must have accessory if you want to play legacy Nintendo games on your Wii ilke Pac Man and Mario Brothers.
The classic controller feels wonderful. The buttons give a nice sense of nostalgia while still maintaining a high standard of excellence in response and overall feel. This controller allows Virtual Console games to feel more like they should as well as gives you access to every game available on VC whereas the Wii remote only allows you to play NES and some Genesis games for the most part. Also, the classic controller can be incorporated in some current Wii titles such as Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Great value for anyone interested in spending some serious time on VC or anyone looking for a little more familiarity in some of the current titles...
I got this when I got my wii and at first I wasn't too sure about it. I tried it out on a few games on the virtual console and it works great!! I noticed though on early games like the nes and turbo grapx 16 it can be a little sensitive so I would use the d-pad. Otherwise, it's a good accessory to a great console!!
This controller makes my day easier when needed. It works on many Wii games. There are two ways in certain games you can play, Classic Controller or Wii Remote & Nunchuk. Good Luck!
Bought this because we thought we needed it...haven't used it yet...may just return it. Wii controllers are very friendly...not sure we need the "retro" controller after all.
I wish that I would have realized before buying this controller that I could have used the 4 gamecube controllers that I already had!!! For some reason I thought that this controller was wireless!! Anyways, I recommended my mother-in-law to just go to edgames or some other used game store to just buy gamecube controllers for my neice, because it's a lot cheaper that way...and it's not like u can use this controller for ALL of the games!!! :)
I bought the classic controller to play a game that I wanted to purchuse. Later I bought more games for my system and have tried to use this controller, but found that the Nintendo Gamecube is more comfortable on some games than with the Classic controller which is why I also bought an Original GC Controller for my Nintendo Wii Console too. The Classic Controller isn't bad, but in some games like both the Nintnedo 64 Legend of Zelda Games were uncomfortable for me. I like to hold down the L button to be able to target my enemies, but my finger seems incapable of getting a decent grip on the Classic Controller so I end up loosing control of my game. Also the right joystick, which will replicate the C-Buttons from the Nintendo 64 Controller, has most often given me the wrong option that I wanted like I push down on the Joystick (C-Button Down) I get C-Button Right. The controller has a comfortable feel in Super Mario 65 but there are times that start to get uncomfortable. Sometimes there are jumps than I want to do that requires me to press ZR and A at the same time on this controller which I'm uncomfortable with at times. The C-Buttons are once again the right joystick and they only bother me is when an object gets in my of seeing an enemy. I hit the joystick left and I get C-Button right instead of C-Button Left so the camera makes the object cover me completly and the enemy attacks me and knocks me of the level. I feel that the Classic controller is more worth on using it for NES, SNES, Mario Kart 64, Paper Mario, and Mario Golf. (THE CLASSIC CONTROLLER CANNOT PLAY NINTENDO GAMECUBE GAMES, ONLY THE NINTNEDO GAMBECUBE CONTROLLER CAN)
I got the Classic Controller for Christmas and it works great. It is really cheap for a controller, but it does have some flaws. The analog sticks are overly sensitive making it hard to play some games. It isn't a very great shape and feels awkward when you get started. The fact that you have a Wiimote lagging underneat doesn't help either. If you really want a good way to play your Virtual Console games get a Gamecube controller. It will work with all of your Virtual Console games (even the ones that say you need a Classic Controller), all Gamecube games, and a couple Wii games (Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Super Smash Bros Brawl to name a few). One day they won't sell Gamecube controllers, but until then I'd steer clear of this controller.
I was very excited to open this on Christmas morning because I wanted to try it with mario and some other games (which is why I asked for it) but come to find out, this controler seems to only work with any game I don't play. I honestly coulndn't say if it works but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more advertised that it doesn't work with all "classic" games...
I am a traditional controller gamer, sports and racing primarily. After great success with traditional type contollers on systems such as PS2, Gamecube and PC's, I figured that I would break tradition and try the standard Wii Controller with Nunchuck. My performance tanked on Need For Speed Pro Street and Madden NFL 08. Purchased and used this Wii Classic Controller with hi hopes, but only to be disappointed with its ability to help me regain that traditional control feel and success that I had become accustomed to on previous systems. I followed and tried all of the instructions provided and still no success. There could be some level of an operator learning curve, but I have been a gamer long enough to honestly say that this controller may not live up to your expectations on Racing and Football Games.
