This is a short grain brown rice that finishes with a normal texture rather than the fake texture one gets from the overly bred long grain varieties. Rice originally was most certainly NOT long grain that seems to be a selling point for some reason now. The "nutty" flavor of natural brown rice is certainly present in this product but is totally lacking in long grain brown rice. This is a great product and in short grain, is really difficult to find. Thank you Walmart.com
Very good price for an excellent product especially with free delivery. Couldn't find brown rice in stores and I'm so glad. This is a really good brown rice, better than what I usually purchase.
This is so different than most brown rice that we've had in the past and the whole family enjoys it. It has an almost sweet flavor to it, and the texture reminds me more of glutenous rice than brown rice. There is a slight pop to the rice while chewing, but not hard or unpleasant, and it doesn't leave pieces to get stuck in my teeth. My husband, who typically isn't a big fan of brown rice, liked this so much that he asked me to order more when we ran out. I tried, but it was out of stock at the time, so apparently this is a fairly popular kind of brown rice. We like it and hope to order more. It's delicious and I'm guessing it would please even the pickiest of eaters. Have a great day!
a superior rice, especially for the price. my favorite way to cook it is to add a small amount of olive oil to the dry rice, perhaps a teaspoon. stirring thoroughly. this coats the kernel and soaks into the husk. don't overdo it, not necessary. the cooking suggestion is between 11/2 to 2cups water to 1 cup rice. i prefer closer to 11/2 cups water, and after bringing it to a boil, turn it way down so it is just boiling. you will really enjoy the flavor and texture.
This is a good brown rice. I usually buy the Hinode brown rice, but decided to try this one. It has a good taste and seems to be more softer than Hinode.
Forgot how tasty this brand of brown glutinous rice is to us. Soaking it in my vinegar, water mix helps it come out perfect on rice button option on my pressure cooker. The rice of the rice is so cloudy like other brands. I can mix it other rice also (forbidden, white, %26 aramanth) they always come out perfect due to the pre-soak techniques.
When I pulled back the tape on top of this bag of rice, the underside had been cut open. The cut was all the way across the bag. It's hard to understand how that could happen unless it was tampered with. The bag was full enough, and the rice appeared normal otherwise, but this is very odd. Could it be that a lesser grade is being swapped in?
Absolutely do not buy! My entire pantry was infested with bugs about a year ago. I did not know what the source of the bugs was. I threw all of my food out and deep cleaned my cabinets. As I bought new food, I kept everything in individual airtight bins. I bought this rice a second time a few months ago, and there are moths in the bin where I store this bag! I am now quite confident that this rice was also the source of my first infestation, given I bought it from the same seller and it is the same type of pantry moths.
I thought it has low calorie and carbohydrates as listed on the nutritional table online, but it is not.
Rice was full of maggots
