For a reasonable price, I was able to maintain the information in the car's computer while replacing the battery. This device allowed me to have the car tested for emissions the next day without requiring a week-long period to reset computer codes. The settings on the clock and radio were maintained as well. It was worth the $6.
Ibough this for an auto repair garage afyrt I lost all my settings with a replacement battery. It saves th annoyance of resetting the clock and all AM and FM radio stations.
I have a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid and had read a review of someone that lost their memory when the under the hood car battery was disconnected and their story was not good. As a result I bought this when it came time to clean my battery terminals and cables. Plugged in the 9v battery the green light came on, plugged the unit into my cigarette lighter with the ignition key in the off position. (I guess some cars don't have power to the cig lighter when key is off, mine did retain power there with the key off# I did have my window down and reached in to plug it into the cig lighter outlet, also had hood open and the doors shut. I made sure everything was turned off #AC, radio etc). Disconnected the battery under the hood and cleaned it all up, reconnected the battery. Disconnected the NOCO Settings Keeper with 9V Battery and everything worked fine. Clock was right, radio settings retained, regenerative brakes worked properly and all else did too. Saved a lot of headaches for about $5. Not sure how it will work on other cars.
It is very simple to use. First check your auto to see if it's require to turn to an on position a I or II clicks in order for sig lighter to works. Connect 9 v battery to + & - and plugs it into sig.lighter, wait for a few mins before you disconnect + & - from your auto battery.
