I saw this dress in a magazine and thought it was very cute and stylish vintage from the 1950s. I couldn't believe it when I saw it was from Walmart and only $18.00; I assumed it would be at least $100.00. I immediately went on-line but saw that it was sold out.(learned my lesson to not let a magazine set around for a week before I open it!) I called stores with no luck, but finally my sister found one in a size larger than I normally wear. It is as cute as pictured and can't wait to wear it. I normally wear small (size 4-6) dresses, but the Medium fits perfect, so in my opinion, the dress runs small. I do question why some of the stores carry this dress and others don't... I thought all Walmart stores, for the most part, carry the same products, but found out that this isn't the case at all.
you can not go wrong with this dress, it is soooo adorable and the perfect throw on summer dress. I am sure I will wear it to shreds. I do agree with the other review that the top portion of the dress runs small and I am glad I sized up but you just gotta love Norma Kamali
I love this dress for a spring/summer dress. I have the blue stripe and indigo and plan to wear them with vests, sweaters, and jackets. The top might be a little smaller than the usual fit, but I have found that true with alot of the Walmart Norma Kamali clothing. If it is a little too tight, put a camy under it and unbutton it to give more room. It is a great stylish value. Its great to get style this affordable!!
Love the dress, but wanted to CAUTION: runs small. I wear a size 6 or small. However, have a average/large bust. Based on the other review, I ordered a medium. ( Have another Norma Kamali sweatshirt dress that ran small also). Buttons are pulling so I will actually need a large. Plan on ordering AT LEAST one size larger.
Fit: I ordered this dress in a size S (even though my usual size is XS in most lines that run small) based on the other reveiws and on the fact that I had seen Kamali fitted shirts in the stores that ran very small. I am under 5"4" and normally wear a 0-2 (25 in jeans) but have a larger chest (32D). The S fit fine and I could have even perhaps taken the XS in this dress, despite my chest size--but I have a very small frame. I think the XS would have just fit in the chest area, so I decided to stick with the S. The dress is cotton so it may shrink a tiny bit when washed. In the S the arms/sleeves are a bit big for me but not so much that they are unwearable. Product Features: I liked the dress so much (at this price) that I ordered the dark indigo color also. (They accidentally shipped a large instead of a small so I hope my reorder will be sent correctly). The striped version is a bit see-through (in the skirt portion) in very bright light so I may have to wear a half-slip underneath, even though it does have a very full gathered skirt. The fabric is a nicer, softer cotton, in my opinion, than in some of the past Kamali pieces. And the style of the dress is a drop- waist with a very full gathered skirt. The natural waist portion is fitted and it comes with thin loops for the tie at the natural waist. However I prefer to take the tie off and tie the sash at the drop-waist line. The dress also has pockets in the full gathered skirt portion. If you prefer to wear the dress without the sash, that shouldn't be a problem since the loops for the sash are just thin thread-like loops that can easily be removed. And even without the sash the natural waist portion is still fitted. I hope this information helps. I wish Wal-Mart would carry the Kamali structured/fitted pieces in more of their stores since it is even more difficult to decide what size you will need without trying the piece on first. A more thorough product description would help too. Still, I love this line and hope they continue to carry it.
I bought this dress in the dark indigo color for my young teen daughter and it looks great on. She wears it with bright flats and jewelry, but I could see a woman of any age wearing it. It's a very classic look. A note on size: Daughter wears a 0/2 and the xs fits her perfectly, but there is not a lot of room in the chest area. For a grown woman or anyone over an A cup, you'll need to go up a size.
I'm not one to buy things with small pinstripe but this dress has a certain charm that makes me feel like I walked out of an ad in the 50's. It definitely fits correctly and it's absolutely adorable. I bought it in small which is very fitting for me, I think I might have gone up a size just for space's sake.
Cute dress ... nice fabric and styling, just runs very small on the top. I am returning mine for the next size up. Fabric is light, best for summer. Overall, a great buy for the price; just order a size up if you are a C cup or bigger.
Very pretty dress! Retro look. Might wear to Sunday brunch with girls. Looks nice with flats or heels. I normally wear an M but the top fit on this dress was too tight. I am a 36D. Material is cotton no stretch. I will exchange for an L.
It fits way too tight for me up top. I could leave it open and wear a cute cami underneath but think I will return it. I am a size 18 and tall, 5'11 but the fullness of the skirt and it is full all the way around made me look larger than I am. I will stick with NK's more sheath types of dresses. I find them more flattering to my figure. Glad I gave it a try though!
