It reduces the amount of impact on my joints and it reduces the amount of noise made on hardwood floors when exercising. I will be ordering more.
I do a lot of high intesnsity cardio at home. I do this on a concrete floor with carpet only. After looking all over and at every product I decided to try this one. This stuff is great. I bought 3 sets to put together for my flooring, so I had a nice sized area. The impact on my joints are greatly reduced. And this does NOT slide around! That is the best part. Great product and I would definitely buy again.
The 3/4 inch thickness is great padding for home gym workouts, yoga, etc. On hardwood floors, they tend to slide when doing lateral jumps - be careful!. I bought two sets an joined them together for a larger surface. The edge pieces are designed to enclose a single set of four, you have to get creative when joining two (or more). I ended up with a few small gaps of about 1/2" each, but not really a problem.
I've used this product now for a few weeks as the flooring in my personal gym. Overall I'm happy with the product, it provides plenty of shock absorption for high impact activities, definitely a knee saver for insanity or p90x users. It took some time to put the tiles together but if you're good at jigsaw puzzles you'll be fine. My only quibble is that every now and then one title seems to want to separate from the others but it hasn't interrupted my workouts yet; this may change over time though.
These mats are good and definitely meet my expectations. If I nit-picked over anything it would be that the gray side is brownish and more a different texture than the blue side. I thought they would be identical just different colors, but they are not the same texture and have different traction on each side. Feel them and see which works best before laying them all down. Also the edge pieces were a bit challenging to line up correctly after being removed, so I would recommend leaving them on until you know for sure you aren't going to use them.
I've only had this installed for a couple of weeks, but I've been very pleased with the product so far. My only small complaint is that it's not quite as easy to install if you are combining packages to make a large area. The edge pieces don't quite fit together properly to enable long sections in multiple directions. I installed approximately 500 sq ft in my basement (28' x 18' - half for a kids "play area" and half for a home gym) and I had to cut the edge pieces along one of the walls to get the right fit. That being said it still went down in about 1/2 a day so I can't complain too much. I can't attest to the durability quite yet, but from what I can tell it seems like it should hold up pretty well.
This flooring is perfect for our garage laundry area and work bench area. It looks great and it feels great on the feet. If I ever need to work on the car in the garage, I'll lay one of these down on the floor as padding. I've had similar mats before, but they usually crumble apart after a short while. These keep on lasting. I just got more.
The product is nice and thick.
As others have noted, the edge pieces don't fit in some layouts. I set up a 6 by 8 foot area and found that three tiles just would not take any of the large selection of leftover edges. My final solution was to trim the ends of two pieces that were too long and fill in a 1/2 by 1-1/4 inch cut piece on a short edge. I used a piece of duct tape to back up the small insert.
It could have been just my failure to understand, but I was not able to get the edges to line up properly in laying this flooring in a 10 x 12 room. There are at least six different types of edge pieces and no matter what type I tried, I was left with holes in the pattern. We tried using the same side and the opposite site, pointing the tiles all in one direction, and opposite directions. No matter how we tried, there was no configuration that allowed us to create a solid border. Also, there are no directions included. The density and color was fine, if you can figure out the borders. I eventually returned all of the flooring to my local store (easy return, thank u Walmart customer service) and purchased foam flooring from an automotive supply store. The alternative flooring only had two different edge shapes and we had the entire room installed and edged in (including the cutting) within 90 minutes.
