Unknowingly, I moved cross country, to a Mexican food desert. The local stores have a limited supply of ingredients necessary to make my favorite dishes. After much research, I found these chiles available on line from Walmart, for a reasonable price and I picked up a few cans. These are the mild version, which are perfect for chile rellenos, and other dishes which don't call for additional heat! Now, all I have to do is find a source for the Hot variety. Thanks again, Walmart!
Great product, ideal for Chili Rellenos, enchiladas, eggs, omlettes, burgers, etc. Mild enough for lightweight chili eaters. Far more economical than small cans of chopped chilies found in other local stores.
These don't look at all like the photo which shows bright green fresh jalapeno peppers. I was disappointed. But after trying them they have found a new home in our kitchen. The peppers are long, pale green and flat, with a point on the tip. The recipe on the can is for making Chili Relleno. A local Mexican restaurant uses similar peppers for that dish, although most of them use Poblano peppers. These canned peppers appear to be Anaheim chili peppers. They're nearly mild with only a slight amount of hotness. They're less hot than some yellow banana ring peppers that I've had on subs. I took one pepper and sliced it in small rings. Great flavor! I'll be chopping some of these up for using like relish in sandwiches, and maybe as a side dish.
It is so hard to find these whole chiles that aren't pickled. The local store had then on the shelf for a bit and then ran out so I ordered four cans. They were so poorly packed that the cans were really dented. Wish they would get them back on the shelf!!!
Disliked how both cans were super dented, almost busted. There was no packaging inside box and outside of box was not damaged but inside, items looked like they had been thrown against a wall before being put in box. Very displeased.
All three cans of green chilies are dented and I feel this is not heathy from all I’ve read. The package is not damaged in any way so these were sent from you already damaged. I would like a refund or three UNDAMAGED CANS sent to me. VERY UPSET. NOT GOOD BUSINESS.
This is the third time I've had to have them shipped. Why won't the store stock them?? Twice they've come dented because they've been tossed in a box without any packing and they just bang against each other. That's one lazy shipping department. Im going to start returning them until they come packed correctly.
After finding large cans of whole green chilies at a reasonable price, I ordered six to be delivered. All of the cans were bent because they weren't packaged well enough. None were split open, but Walmart needed to put more packing materials inside to prevent the cans from hitting each other and bending.
The can was full of hard crusts. The chilis were mangled instead of whole like usual.
I ordered 7 cans as I can't get these in any store here in the Northeast. Every single one of them is badly dented, so I think they were all rejects from some store in some faraway place. The expiration dates are out one year, so that's good. I normally won't buy a dented can, but I have no choice in this case. I won't know if they're bad till I try to use them.
