quality and versatility

i'm an old guy and i enjoy cooking. this is a quality product. it's great for breakfast: bacon, sausage, pancakes, eggs...but i've also used it to fry breaded porkchops and burgers. oster makes professional bar and restaurant appliances so i was sure the quality would be there. and it is. but the nicest thing about this skillet is the pan that you remove and wash...without dunking the electronics into the dishpan. i say spend a few more dollars and get this pro-grade cooker that will replace your cooktop for lots of dishes.

this is my 2nd skillet...first one had extreme problems with non-stick material flaking off after only six usages (no metal utensils were ever used on product). hopefully, no problem with the 2nd one. really like the removable pan feature for ease of cleaning and oven baking capability too. heat distribution was very evenly spread over entire base of cooking area.

large enough to cook pan dinners, and easy clean

I wanted something where the handles wouldn't loosen and big enough to not have to cook food in batches.

this is our third one. if you take the pan off of the hot plate before you unplug it will quit working. so watch out their. they do not fix it at oster, that why the third one. as far as cooking and using as they say by unplugging first i like it a lot. Just watch if someone else use it.

I like the size of the Skillet but the times I have used it to cook the food sticks. I did oil it before first time use... but food still sticks...

Really Disappointed

My last electric skillet gave me 10 years before it started to give up the teflon. This one has been bubbling since the second time we used it. A dream to clean, great for serving, cooking is so convenient. I just don't care for the fact that I spent more money for an inferior coating. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Do Not Use to Fry Conventional Chicken or Meats
(1)
Reviewed in the USA on 2015-07-24T17:00:00

This skillet is NOT meant to fry whole chicken parts such as thighs, bone-in breasts, wings, and legs. And it will not work well with fried pork chops or chicken fried steak (or cube steak for those of us who grew up in the Carolinas and Georgia). I don't fry often, but this item was a tremendous disappointment in that it lacks adequate sustained heat to fry the meat without the the oil soaking into the flour. It may work great for casseroles, or fried/scrambled eggs, or maybe a stir fry...maybe. So, please don't purchase this item expecting to semi deep fry/or deep fry chicken or meat....it is not a substitute for the legacy and proven brand conventional skillet fryers. At the end of the usage instructions, it finally states "Not meant for deep frying"....LOL! At that point, you've already purchased the item....and if you're one of those that don't read the instructions thoroughly, you'd miss it altogether, because this disclaimer is not conspicuously written anywhere on the exterior box.

Warning Oster Electric Skillet !!

I bought the Oster removable electric skillet a few months ago.I thought I would spend a little more money and buy the best one they had.Well I guess I was wrong on that one. With in a couple 3 or 4 times using it I noticed that the removable skillet warped in the center "raised" making the skillet wobble front to back "see pictures" And maybe after 6 or 7 time the teflon started to flake off and bubble " see Pictures" And the sad part is everything I cooked was at 350* or lower temp.I always used wood or plastic cooking tools ,never let food set in the skillet and only soak and washed by "hand" after every use.If you ask me they are poor quality to save money but they are not afraid to ask for money when it comes time to buy one from them !!

I bought this to fry fish and also to make smothered steak. Heating up took 20 min to get to 300 degrees and then the temp started to fall. Would not ever get above 305 degrees.
