Saved our Sanity!!

Hey! First of all, let me just start by explaining our little start at life. We spent 14 days in the NICU. He wasn't able to breath on his own in the beginning! And was hooked up to monitors, that would go off constantly!! As the days past! He got stronger and needed less wires, and less oxygen! But, him getting better, was not making myself or my husband feel any safer about bringing him home. Hearing those alarms for so long, man,it really brainwashed us! We were constantly having nurses run to us. And constantly having his wires reset to see if his reading were correct. As the days went by, we were stressing more and more about taking our little man home! We were suppose to be excited! But couldn't got that point, when all we had inside was worry! A nurse at the hospital mentioned the OWLET monitor, and explained how the monitor was so similar to having that little pulse ox wrapped around his foot/arm at the hospital! And how it would Alarm us if he dropped below a certain oxygen reading. We had heard about the OWLET, but never even gave it a second thought when we were in this situation! Unfortunately we weren't able to just flat out by it, because it is slightly pricy! But we were able to collect donations from family and friends and get it!! And my gosh ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!! We can home and immediately were more comfortable sleeping while he slept! It telling you when he is moving, and when it's not getting a good read(it moved, or he kicked it off)! We are 100% impressed and would recommend to ANYONE AND EVERYONE!!! As a mom with anxiety! This saved me!! It saved our Sanity!

At 10 days old the monitor went off a few times and alerts her parents her sats had dropped below 90 because of the owlet they were able to show the trend to the Doctor and she was taken to the hospital for surgery. She was not breathing when she feel asleep and without the Owlet monitor I believe she would have became a SIDs static. Thank you for your product and saving my precious Raye OF Sunshine's Life.

For those on the fence about the owlet.....I have been using it for two weeks. NEVER gotten a red notification. A yellow one sometimes (because he's a preemie and only 4 pounds 9 ounces) because the sock didn't fit....a sock over it helped that. Well tonight my grandmother was over...I was sitting in a chair 5 feet away pumping....my grandmother was holding my son on the sofa. The red alarm sounded. I immediately jumped up and grabbed him. She had fallen asleep with him face down on her chest....so his air way was obstructed. Did I think I needed to monitor my grandmother? No. Am I happy I had the owlet...100000%. If you are able to get the owlet DO IT.

My daughter was born at 38 weeks perfectly healthy with no concerns. We were sent home quickly from the hospital due to both of us being in great health. She is my first so we opted to be safe and purchase the owlet. Shortly after bringing her home we made the best purchase of our lives. The first few days we struggled with sock placement but finally got it just right. That night the alarm went off that her oxygen level was under 80%. I immediately rushed to check on her and she had no color change, was alter and responsive. The next day I decided to try the sock while she napped, again her values were low. I called me doctor and we were rushed to an appointment. After an oxygen test at our pediatrician we were sent to children hospital. Our daughter was diagnosed with infant periodic breathing and placed on oxygen 24/7. She is now off the oxygen and doing well, she will continue to wear the owlet for peace of mind. This product potentially saved the life of my little girl and I'm forever thankful.

Owlet is not a medical device, it was never intended to take the place of a Dr, nurse, or healthcare facility. Now that I have said that. My daughter was 4 weeks old. I woke up to feed her and I laid her down on her back. I went back to bed as it was about 5am. At 5:55am I was in a deep sleep when suddenly my owlet was wailing RED my phone was alarming as well, because I had the app. I thought my baby had just kicked the sock off. I silence the phone and went to her bassinet. Now I'm a trauma nurse by trade. I have been a trauma nurse for 17yrs. I panicked! My baby face was a deep cherry color and her lips were blue! All of my years of training and experience went out the window. My daughter was dying before my eyes. Long story short she was silently choking. I grabbed her and vigorously pat and rubbed her back causing her to let out a cry, but she was still not breathing. After a hospital stay and showing the Doctors at the children's hospital in my city (her O2sat was 62 her heart rate was 80 which are abnormal for a baby) my Dr. Said "it was a great thing that you had the Owlet, or you would have slept through this event." This is worth every penny. Note: it does not work of you dint put it on the baby foot lol...please use it when you buy it, and make sure it fits properly. My family thanks Owlet!

After losing a child to SIDS, this helped so much!

I bought this for my 4th child after losing my son to sids at 10 weeks old. I didn't think I was going to ever be able to sleep when we had the baby, I was so scared. But when we got it & used it since the day she came home from the hospital, it's been amazing! You have to reconnect it to the WiFi sometimes when you don't use it for a day or so but other than that, it's perfect!

We have worn the Sock nearly 360 of 364 days of our child's life - and the day before her first birthday she had rolled onto her tummy during deep REM sleep and buried her face. The Owlet showed she wiggled, stayed very still, and stopped breathing for around 1m 10s. As soon as there was danger (we keep the sock settings less strict as not to alarm to wiggles or being awake) the alarm went off like clock work and we found her unresponsive. We are lucky to regain breathing immediately and without issue but my husband and I 250% believe the Owlet SAVED our child from SIDS. Without warning she would have slipped away in our sleep and we would have never been able to stop it. We immediately purchased a second set for my sitters home for naps and a third set for our son who is set to arrive in 5 weeks.

I bought the combo and couldn't be happier. The sock and monitor work wonderfully together and have given me such peace of mind. I had horrible anxiety and would watch my daughter sleep instead of sleeping myself. Now I get great sleep knowing that I will be alerted if something is going wrong. My husband calls the monitor my favorite T.V. show now bc I like to check in on her and knowing I can see her at anytime is a blessing. The app makes it easy to just look over at my phone and know she is perfectly fine. My daughter is 19 weeks old and I got mine when she was 12 weeks....only wish I would have had it at birth bc I probably would have gotten much more sleep! Thank you owlet for making this first time moms life a little easier.

Improvement from Sock 2 but new issues
(3)
Reviewed in the USA on 2020-11-07T16:00:00

The Sock 3 introduces improvements over Sock 2 but introduces new problems. I originally owned a Sock 2, loved it and so bought the Sock 3. But the 3 introduced new problems and so I got another Sock 2. (I need two Socks, one for the day and one for the night.) First, the good. The Sock 3 has wireless charging. It is fantastic to just drop it into the charging cradle instead of plugging in a micro USB cable. The Sock 3 is also slightly easier to wear. It is certainly easier to change into a new sock when the baby grows bigger. Now, the new problems. First, it is said that the Sock 3 is more sensitive than the Sock 2. I'm not sure of my 3 is a bit too sensitive. Whenever the baby cries hard - as all parents will know is quite normal - the sock registers a high heart rate. Given the loudness of the alert, I find that agitates the baby, who is already wailing, even more. Of course, were the alert accurate, that is something I would take most seriously. But both Sock 2s do not register a high heart rate under similar circumstances. Either Sock 3 or Sock 2 is wrong - neither is a good thing. Next, Sock 3 is very sensitive to fitting. I understand fit is important for a good measurement. But whereas I do not have a problem with Sock 2, I very frequently get a loose fitting alert with the 3, which results in persistent alerts. Now sometimes this happens if the baby moves a bit rigorously in his crib - obviously something I can't fix without waking him up! Finally, the BIGGEST problem with the Sock 3 is that the option to turn off the blue and yellow alerts is lost. The blue alert occurs when connection is lost with the base station, whereas the yellow alert occurs when the fit is loose. With the Sock 2, I could turn off these alerts while preserving the red alert (which is important). The company tells me the reason why I can't turn off the blue and yellow alerts is because the base station has a longer reach. While this makes sense, it fails to take into account a practical arrangement some parents may have. Let's say that my baby sleeps with his caregiver in a different room from me. But I want the base station in my room so that I can be alerted to any red alarms. However no matter how good the Sock 3 range is, it does not cover two rooms fully. Thus, when my caregiver in the other room brings baby to a rocking chair in the corner to feed, the blue alert goes off in my room. Or, the baby kicks and loosens the sock. The yellow alert goes off. Now I understand we need these alerts so that when there really is a red alert emergency, we will know. But I rather not have the blue and yellow alerts persistently interrupting my sleep when the cause - as often is the case - is innocuous. For this reason, I deemed the Sock 3 practically unusable for my setup. I therefore bought a second Sock 2 to use as my night sock. So my suggestion is - if you can get a 2, go get it. It offers more customisation options in terms of alerts. This may be necessary in some setups. It is also less sensitive - whether that is good or bad depends on whether the 3 is too sensitive. At least I don't have to compete with a red siren in the background when baby is crying!

My son is four months old and we have been using the owlet sock since the night we brought him home. It has been slower to react than I imagined, but one time in particular was really bad. I had taken the sock off of my son and was getting him ready for the day. It had been off of him 5+ minutes, (he had been changed and dressed for the day) when I realized it still had not alerted me that it wasn't on his foot anymore. I then decided to check my app to see what it would say and it said his heart was beating normal and his oxygen was 100%. The app read “Kade's readings are normal”. This instance in particular has caused me to have very little trust in the owlet.
