I had no issues whatsoever with washing my quilt once finished. The washing instructions said to hand wash, who hand washes a quilt? I washed on gentle cycle, cold water. The product stayed in place and frankly was a great buy for the price.
This batting is lovely to quilt and has a soft but fluffy drape, but be aware that it is NOT machine washable. This was my first time using wool batting and I mistakenly machine washed my quilt on gentle and dried on low and my lint trap was full of wool and my quilt "bearded". It now has wool fibers coming out of the top which "pill" together into little balls. It would have been helpful if the care instructions were included on this product page.
Despite listing description: NOT a 90" ROLL - this will come as a folded bolt... haven't used it yet, but I am aware that 50/50 Wool/Cotton fibers have to be laundered/rinsed/dried in like temps, or else dry cleaned so that's not a concern of mine (as per another reviewer complaint) - this is NOT labeled 'Pellon' ANYWHERE on the item I received... hoping to use this for a Holiday Gift: *CROSSING MY FINGERS*
I would give this batting zero stars if I could! I've used, and been pleased with other pellon battings. They aren't the best, but for the price, they're plenty good. When I purchased this 50/50 wool cotton batting, I assumed I would be equally pleased. And I was, until I pulled my quilt (curvy kingfisher - if you want to look it up on instagram) out of the washer and it looked like a pillow had exploded in there. I thought perhaps my quilt had somehow come completely apart. Nope. Bits of wool were migrating out through the fabric (both the back and the front, designer quilting cottons and Liberty of London cotton lawn) - not just the needle holes. I scooped a handful (emphasis on FULL) of wool out of the washer. Sadly, I have this batting in another (extremely special!) special quilt that is about 3 hours from completion (I've got probably more than 100 hrs in it all together) and I am just sick about it. Pellon - you need to retire this product immediately.
