This is a well-made product and quite clever. It does its job of keeping out cold (Ohio) weather.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The PetSafe Extreme Weather Pet Door was extremely easy to install. I chose the large size for my Australian cattle dog. He's about 50 pounds and this was the perfect fit. I love that this product is energy efficient and the grid on the back of the box showed me about how big the opening would need to be for installation. I also love that I can paint the trim to match my house.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a week ago and am amazed at how easy it was to install. I was was also impressed that it kept the cold it and it helped keep the rain out when my dog went out. Definitely something to invest in for your dogs .
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is perfect for our screened in porch so our dog can go in and out without us having to let her out of our screened in porch into the fenced in back yard. PERFECT!!! Genius idea really and it only took a few times showing my older dog how to push through it for her to understand how it works and it installed easily without any hassle. Absolutely wonderful product. It's well made and came with crystal clear instructions. I am 100% satisfied with this company and product.
effective door the best of them All keep weather out
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this door for my bully xl shes 97lbs the door says up to 100lbs. Its a tight squeeze for her. We are working on getting her to use it. She loves to be outside but also wants to be inside. So thia give her more options to let herself out when we are not home. Its is built to last very sturdy the heat from outside does not get in the house. Its easy to install. Great price
Attractive door, good size and design which eliminates the less expensive door problem with the lock getting broken off. Nice also because it covers the door inside the pet door so no cut door showing. I only gave it a 3 because my 3 month kitten can not only burst through the lock cover to gain entry but he can pull it off as well.
If it had the door on and the dogs push it, the entire door just falls apart. The cheap screws do not hold the door together at all. The door also stays open because the magnetic strips don't hold it at all. Very disappointed.
Had a dog flap fitted into French doors a year ago now . So thought yeah will be good double glazed. It not sealed well makes my room cold. Two plastic screws have had to be replaced with mettle ones. The plastic slide cover now got two corners brocken due to it getting stuck. And now another part is broken. And going to have to pay for someone to put back the original glass back in. Poor fitting and poor quality
I have owned this door for about 6 years. I live in North Central WI, and needless to say, at times, the cold weather here can be brutal. I have 4 dogs, and I also work with rescues and frequently have foster dogs... so this door gets lots of use. Over all, we are happy with the door's function and durability... with one major exception. The problem is with the outside door frame easily cracking in the extreme cold where the screws are. In turn, this causes the outer flap to fall off completely.... and whalla... so much for my expensive Extreme Weather Door. When the temp drops well below zero, the slightest movement from the dogs using the door causes the plastic to very easily crack. I see I'm not the only one with this issue. Would be nice if your designers would address this issue and resolve the problem. Extreme Weather Doors should be able to handle Extreme weather. This just happened today for the second time, and it is bitter cold outside. Very frustrated....
