Bought one for a rescued bully that had severe old barking due to living on a 3 foot chain...he used to bark nonstop because thats all he knew.. this taught him to calm down in just a couple weeks. He never barked nonstop again. It did scare him the first couple time though. It was a lifesaver for all of us. He was so much more calm. He could lay by the window and watch people calmly after that.
I have an Airedale Terrier that loves to scream at anything walking by the house. Put this on and forget it. If he is barking then the box moved around on his neck from his throat and is too loose. Change the batteries often, it is what makes this thing work!!!! Keep the box on the throat.
I think the negative reviews below aren't really warranted. Just like any dog toy or food, each dog is so unique that not everything works universally. We've been using it for a week and the vibration does deter our puppy from barking nonstop. I worry that he may learn that he should only be quieter when wearing this collar and I do wish there was some way to do adjustments on vibration settings. There were a few times it vibrated when he sneezed or was rubbing himself along the sofa and I was not very happy about that. Overall his barking is more than cut in half and we are continuing to work with positive reinforcement to reward his silence. I'm waiting until the 45 satisfaction guarantee period to determine whether or not it is a success for us. I do wish this one was rechargeable.
I have several pet safe products and all work very well. I see a lot of negative reviews and I have to say I have had no problem with mine. My dogs collar does allow him to bark, but he cannot go “into manic bark mode” the vibrations go off after a steady stream of barks. Dogs can get smart to the collar. My dog learned to do a series of short barks, which means he definitely knows that it is on. He no longer is in attack mode but he still lets you know he's there. Remember this is a deterrent not a cure for barking. I also encourage you to use customer support. They are ASSUME!
I purchased this for my older dog. My dog barks when she is excited and when people come over. My dog was trained as a puppy with petsafe smart dog trainer. My dog took very well to the vibration collar. The excessive barking has been eliminated.
bought this on Friday. By Tuesday the red flashing light of low battery was going even though he wears it for a max of 8 hours on weekdays. He doesn't even notice its there and still barks. There's no way to increase the strength of the vibration so it's totally useless but expensive
This has never worked as a preventive dog bark collar. The only this it has done is cost me money. I was sold this be the pet shop stating it would stop my dachshund barking. I think he likes it. For such an expensive collar it should do something apart from a neck massager.
I bought this so that my dog will stop whining / barking when we're not at home. We took him out for a walk today and he barked and the collar did not even respond or even tapped my dog to stop barking. I wasted money on this collar and it doesn't even work! I'm super disappointed.
