For several years I used a competing type of electric shaver that worked in a conventional way. I had used a Norelco since my 20's, but started using another type later in life when I felt that Norelco was not the best type. I was never comfortable with the loud buzz of the other brand, but it shaved me well and I put up with it. I switched back to Norelco when I felt that the design was back to what I wanted. I'm glad I did. It shaves much better than my old razor and is so quiet that I can listen to music or the news without raising the volume. The Norelco cleaning system is also much better and quieter. All around I'm very satisfied.
At least that's what my son tells me. Right out of the box the shaver was very high end, and the weight was very light in your hands. "I said to him. how do you turn it on?" He explained that it has a power button on the front of the shaver as well as an Advanced User Interface LED display that signals battery status, it has Personal Comfort Settings which allows you to personalize your shave speed settings. There's also AquaTec Wet & Dry for a comfortable dry or wet shave; whichever you prefer. It also comes with a really cool SmartClean that keeps your shaver like new everyday, and it comes with a carrying case, and a trimmer that snaps onto the shaver. He said shaver just glided over his face following his natural outline giving him a smooth, and clean shave. He's in love with it. He says he will not need another shaver for years to come. Looks like a winner here.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shaver now features 3 shaving heads that are removed/replaced as a single unit, whereas previous heads were replaced individually by using a provided “tool”. I had experienced problems with the old design properly seating an holding the heads properly. The new design appears better - time will tell, but I am hopeful. This shaver holds a charge far better than my previous 9000 series Philips/Norelco shaver. I am a LONG term customer of this brand and triple head shaver. I have used Norelco since I was 16, and I am now 70.
Extremely impressive razor. Top of the line and far exceeds my expectations plus has some great added features that make this razor go above and beyond many of the other razors on the market. This razor was for my husband who, thanks to the Norelco 9300, is now a convert to electric razors. Before receiving this razor he always preferred the disposable type because he thought they gave him a closer shave. Not any more. He says this razor works just as well but is a whole lot more convenient. It really does contour to your face . It's pretty incredible the way it seemlessly adjusts to every curve. It glides so smoothly over your face and lifts each hair before it cuts which gives a phenominal shave. His face feels just as smooth as if he had used a disposable blade. This razor is also a wet/dry razor so it can be used in the shower and with or without shaving cream. There are indicaters that tell how much charge you have left, when you need to replace the cleaning cartridge, which should be about every 3 months, and even when you need to replace the shaver heads, which they recommend is done once a year. The Smart Cleaning System is a great added feature. You just set the razor in with the heads down and it automatically cleans it all while continuing to charge so you are ready with a freshly charged razor every time. The smart clean system cleans dries and lubricates the blades, as well as charges at the push of a button. You can also clean it yourself by simply remove the top of the shaving head and rinsing under running water. I was so happy to see that the razor can also be charged directly so you don't have to always have the larger cleaning stand which makes it convenient to travel with and it includes a very nice traveling case. Last, but definitely not least, another feature that sold my husband on this electric razor is the smart click precision trimmer which is included in the box. It work great to trim up your mustache, side burns or for a quick shape up. There is also the beard styler and cleansing brush that can be purchased separately that also easily click right into the Norelco 9300. Although this razor is a on the higher end in terms of pricing, I feel it is worth every penny. I don't think he will ever go back to disposables again.
The Norelco Shaver 9300 is large and powerful. The shaver itself took a very short amount of time to charge and worked beautifully from the very first shave. The sound of the shaver when it is on is not very loud at all and the vibration of the shaver is minimal. You definitely don't feel like you're being shaken when using this shaver. The first shave with this shaver turned out to be what was expected, a close and comfortable shave. It maneuvered around the various dips around his face and made quick work of removing the stubble. No red marks, irritation or razor burn after using this shaver made my husband a very happy man. This shaver comes with a cleaning unit that you simply put the shaver down in. The scent of the cleaning liquid is mild and not too overpowering. I did read up on this and found they recommend you replace the cleaning solution every 3 months and it will cost under $30. It should keep your shaver going strong with no problems so it will be well worth the cost. Also worth noting is that it is recommended that you replace the heads of the shaver every year. Those will cost under $50 to replace. Given the satisfaction with this shaver it's a small price to pay to have something that works this well. My only complaint about this shaver is that the cleaning unit it really tall so if you have to put it on the counter and have a low cabinet it might be in the way a bit. Aside from that I highly recommend this shaver. It works wonderfully!
Hi Folks, I'm that guy who has used the el-cheapo, throw-away, disposable razors his entire life - until just recently. When I received this new Phillips Norelco 9300 series electric razor, I wasn't sure whether or not it would be to my liking. Well, I've discovered that electric razors are great! This one is anyway. I even ordered an additional attachment, a facial scrubber brush, and now I can shave, trim, & scrub my face with the same device! Maybe they will come out with a toothbrush attachment next. This shaver charges fairly fast and gives a pretty close shave. The shave might not be quite as close as one would get using a brand-new multiple edge manual type shaver, but for me, this electric shaver works just fine. I have pretty light facial hair, so this shaver mows right through it without effort. I've only used it a few times though, and time will tell how long the sharpness of the blades will last. Hopefully it will shave well for a long, long time before the blades require replacement. The mustache & beard trimmer also works very well. Now its face washed, shaved, and then trimmed up in the mornings! No more showing up at work looking like I just crawled out from under the nearest Interstate Highway Bridge! (Just kidding!). I highly recommend this shaver, especially to those who have light facial hair. It would probably work just as well for someone with a heavier beard, but I will have to leave that to another reviewer!
Honestly, I've never been a huge fan of electric razors and have always preferred manual razors/safety razors. This electric razor however; has totally changed the way I approach my daily grooming routine and I'm confident it'll do the same for you. Just be aware that Norelco suggests: “you do not use this unit if you've not shaved in the past 3 days”. If this is the case, they recommend doing a pre-trim before using the product. There are many beneficial features this product incorporates so I'll go over my favorites. 1. The SmartClean station solution lasts for 3 months and you can charge the razor while it's being cleaned. An indicator light will come on when it's time to change your cleaning solution. As if that were not enough, Norelco also designed this SmartClean station to cycle itself through a drying phase too, which takes about 4 hours to complete. The cleaning portion only takes 10 minutes; make sure the razor is charged before placing it into the station. 2. For many of you traveling, it has 2 really neat features that will come in very handy for sure. You can engage the travel lock function to ensure the razor does not turn on; which prevents damaging the micro-blades and preserves battery life. If the battery is totally dead, you can do an easy quick charge for about 5 minutes giving you enough power for a 3 minute shave. 3. I really enjoy using this razor around those sensitive areas (Nose, mouth); you can and will get a smooth/clean shave every time! Wet/dry this cordless razor is just AWESOME! It's a must have for any man, especially if you're on the go all the time like myself. Completely charging this razor only takes one full hour and gives you 50 minutes of shave time. 4. This Phillips Norelco 9300 series really does have it all. I enjoy knowing when the unit should be cleaned; there is an indicator light that comes on after each shave reminding you to clean. It also has 3 various speed levels, low, medium and high. I would highly recommend this razor to anyone. Buy one today for yourself or that special someone on your shopping list!
Before receiving this razor, I had been using the Philips Norelco Click & Style Shave Kit that retails for about $69.99, and I love it. When I received the Philips Norelco Shaver 9300, I thought the box it came in was kind of big for a razor. There was a lot of empty space in the box that was filled with empty cardboard. In the box: The Philips Norelco Shaver 9300 in a nice zippered hard travel case, one cleaning solution cartridge, one sideburn trimming attachment, self cleaning base, charge cord, instruction manual. Experience: The first time I shaved with the 9300, I was a bit disappointed. It took longer than usual, and left my skin feeling chaffed. I had several hairs that needed repeated going over until they finally cut. I thought that for a product that cost so much, it should have done a better job. I have discovered later on that if I shaved every day, it did a good job. The razor is ergonomically designed and is comfortable to hold and lightweight. It has three speeds and a battery charge indicator on the interface located on the handle. The battery life on this shaver is better than my previous Norelco shaver. I can generally go about a week between charges. The nice thing about the cleaning base is it also charges the razor as it cleans, but it can be noisy the first few minutes it is cleaning. Tip: The manual reads that you should allow up to 21 days for your face to adjust to the razor, and I found this to be true. The first couple of shaves can leave your face feeling irritated. Use of a shaving gel or a lotion after shaving is recommended. Those with goatees and/or mustaches will be disappointed to learn that Norelco did not include the mustache/goatee adjustable attachment. If you have one from one of the other latest Norelco shave kits, the attachments are interchangeable, which was good news. I was surprised that at this price point, Norelco did not include one in the 9300 Shave Kit. Pros: Easy to use Easy to clean Close comfortable shave Ergonomic design Interchangeable attachments Cons: Steep price Lack of mustache/goatee adjustable attachment Noisy cleaning base Overall, I'd recommend this to a friend, but would advise on waiting for a sale price, as it feels overpriced to me for what you get.
I absolutely love the shaver, it does a fine job of shaving my face. The big disappointment is the cleaning base. I had it replaced within the first year of ownership as none of the buttons on it would respond to a touch. Now, the replacement is acting up and won't respond to me pressing on the "cleaning cycle" button. It's time to see if I can get the replacement cleaning base replaced. If I can't then I will just toss it in the trash. I hope this review will dissuade others from spending the extra money for the cleaning base. Keep your money - It isn't worth it!
Purchased 30 December 2014 In my opinion it does not perform any better than my old SensoTouch 3D Shaver. I retired my SensoTouch 3D Shaver because the replacement heads got way too expensive ? for those of you still using this shaver, you can change it to the same head as the 9000 series. One regret that I have is not going with the 9400 because I really don?t see the need for a digital readout for remaining battery life, whereas the bar display on the 9400 is more than adequate. The high and low speed adjustment is a bit of a gimmick ? who would shave at less than full speed and power? Update 15 June 2015: I?ve just received a warranty replacement cleaning station. The cleaning fluid pump in the cleaning unit failed ? the little electric motor shaft corroded right through and the impeller fell off. Update 27 June 2015: The head partially detaches with the slightest sideways force while shaving causing the drive coupling to disengage and screech. The head almost falls off. The head attachment on my old 3D is still solid.
