It's almost like the Wii, but not as cool or not as expensive. My 5 yr old got this for his birthday and the kids all took turns batting and pitching--even the adults got into it. It's now been 4 months and the kids and daddy still enjoy it.
My daughter loved it. I also liked this game because to play it you are actually up and moving not just sitting on the couch giving your thumbs a workout! It was a birthday gift for my daughter (age 11), but it is fun for the whole family. I thought it was a little bit pricey, but we are still glad we bought it.
We've had the baseball 3 plug n'play game for a little over three months now. My son who is in little league has had so much fun with it as well as our whole family. Up to four people can play. The home run derby is really fun to compete among yourselves and has us cheering and calling out "hey batter, batter.." The graphics are very clear, but no way near life-like. My son doesn't seem to mind though and he goes from playing mlb 07 The Show (also highly recommend) on his ps2 to this. This is a game that will get you off your feet which I love. You do have to learn to swing correctly. It's amazing, but if I just half heartedly swing the bat, I'll miss the ball, but if I get the right stance and swing really hard, and watch the ball, I can score a home run. I have no idea how a sensor can determine that, but it really makes you keep your head in the game and teaches children correct posture and timing. Note, you have to swing the bat or ball over the plate to start a game. Sometimes, you may have to swing a few times for the sensor to pick it up. This is just occassionally and doesn't happen during play time. One last thing, just a few days ago, the cap came off the end of the bat and I noticed a piece was chipped to prevent it from tightening as it should. This is the piece that twists on and covers up the batteries. I called Radica and had to send the home plate to them. We did have to pay shipping (less than $4.00), but they sent me a complete brand new game for no charge. They were very helpful so no worries with their customer service - they stand behind their products. Oh, another thing, if your child gets frustrated easily and doesn't like to improve himself, he may not enjoy this game. You do have to get the hang of it and it took a few tries to get our first hit. We've had children play from seven to eleven and they all loved it and have played it up to two hours at one time! When it's too wet to play baseball outside, play inside!
My 7 year old loves this. Has played it pretty much nonstop since we got it. My husband & I like it too. It's nice because he can play it by himself or against others. Easy to assemble, but the instructions could be a little more helpful in starting to play. You should know even if you are playing against the computer, you need to do the pitching motion.
This is a lot of fun for the whole family as we try to get the most homeruns and beat each other. It's also helping my son practice his swing for real baseball games.
The game is easy to set up and play, but the graphics lack a lot and though it was very fun at first, the pitching device stopped working completely, which is (really) annoying. The home run derby is still fun, and the wireless bat is nice. The sensors only pick up your timing, not where or how you swing the bat so this does NOT help batting stance. During home run derbies you can chop down on the ball and it will still sense it. Also, it's a lot easier hitting home runs one handed. So it was worth most of the money, but it's not something I would play for hours and it's not the equivalent of the Wii.
