I pre ordered my Polk 4SHOT back in February. I've been super anxious, but patiently waiting.my headphones arrived today I spent the extra money to have them shipped overnight. (well worth it) I just got done playing a little of Forza to give them a test run. It sounds better than my surround sound. You could hear glass breaking, people blowing whistles in the crowds, which side of the car took a hit and even your engine growling louder under each bridge or tunnel. The microphone works good . I like how the mic isn't all up in your face it tucks away very nicely . Wouldn't even know it was there. Unlike those other brands where you look like you work a drive thru window. I also tested with my WP8 works great calls are clearer also Pandora sounded very nice listened to some infected mushroom. Over all I'm very satisfied at this point I just hope they hold up in the long run.
Hey everyone, today I have received my Polk 4 shots headphones.On the beginning I was very sceptical, coz I never heard of POLK AUDIO (probably coz I'm from EUROPE) and as far as I know is the very first gaming headset. Let's start from comfort, they are very compact and got stylish design that stand out from usual gaming headsets that are usually oversized. Once you put them on you don't want to take them off, yes they are so comfortable. As for sound quality, it's best I have ever come across with any gaming headset, in the past I used TB x31 x41 tritton warhead and 4 shots eat them on breakfast. I also read some comments about microphone, that some of the people have to shout to their headset so friend can hear them. I have no such problem just use a cable that says "for controller only" or ms with polk fix the issue, anyway mic work with no problem and more, friend of my said that when I speak trough 4 shots it's much better when I use headset from Ms.Overall I'm very happy with my new headset, thx POLK AUDIO and I can't wait for ur next product, how about totally wireless headset for xbox one?
Alright, so yes there is a negative, and in my opinion this is a big negative. First off though, These puppies sound awesome! and I love the way that you don't need batteries, and the extra drain on my controller is easy as I use the energiser recharger thing... but for me, I use headsets for online gaming and chat is key for solid gameplay and a great time with mates, but when you use these they just cannot hear you... there may be ( or will there be polk? can you confirm?) a patch or firmware to correct this? I am scoring these an optimistic 3 out of 5... will update if an update happens... ALEG75
With the mic being where it is it just can't pick up on your voice like a normal mic. Instead it sounds more like you are talking through the connect. I would avoid this headset unless you don't mind going unheard.
Been looking forward to these for a long time. Pre-Ordered in September. They sound great. Much better than my old Tritton AX360s. Excellent build quality and feel. Comfortable to wear. Unfortunately, nobody I play with can hear me when I talk -- something that seems to be a universal problem with the 4shots. Polk says we should all sit tight. That the hardware is fine, and that a software update from Microsoft will fix the mic problem in "a few" weeks. Microsoft, so far, has been silent. I have to ask -- given that Polk has been marketing their "exclusive" collaboration with Microsoft as an official launch partner, and that these were originally supposed to launch with the Xbox One in October (so Xbox/Polk had 4-5 extra months to make sure everything was working great) -- why was no Q&A done and no fix issued before the headphones shipped out? Is it really as simple as a software fix? I'm not convinced. Since the headphones are passive, the software update is for the Xbox One controller/puck. That means despite Polk's good intentions, they are dependent on Microsoft to issue any fix. I'm also wondering if all brands of headphones have to be driven by the same code. For example, does increasing the mic gain for the Polks mean that the Turtle Beach or Microsoft mics will be too loud? We have no way to know until Polk or Microsoft provide more details. I'm fortunate in that I can hang onto these until April 7th before I have to return them to Amazon. A lot of my friends have already returned their 4shots and picked up the TB X07s because of the mic issue. I'm counting on you Polk. Don't make me look like a fool for trusting that you'll fix this.
I pre-ordered these when they first came out and decided it was time for a short review. The sound quality is great for gaming and movies in general. 4 Stars here. Mic didn't work well at the beginning which I'm sure everyone knows by now. They sent out a replacement cord that had a boom mic attached in order to fix the issue. It did not. I did the updates and still no talky talky. Pretty much the sole reason for purchasing a gaming headset. Otherwise I would have gone with a sound specific headset. 2 star deduction. After about 6 months of use, the headset snapped right at the top under the padding. They still work, but they do not fit well anymore. I'll just toss this off to high usage. No deduction.
I pre ordered the Polk 4 shot headset so I could get it the day it came out. I have used Polk before & I have been happy with the quality of there products. The 4 shot headset is very comfortable & the sound quality is good. Then we have the gaming microphone that is very poor. Everyone I talk to over Xbox- 1 say I sound so low that they can not hear me or they say I sound muffled. I have even tried yelling & cupping my hands over my face & microphone, but it does not seem to help much. Also while playing Titanfall my controller has lost connection a few times now & by the time I can get reconnected I am dead. I do not know if this is due to the headset or on Microsoft' s stereo adapter etc. , but it is frustrating. I hope this Polk chat pro that I have read that you will be sending out to us will fix this problem & I really hope that we can get a download update in the future that will fix this problem. If this problem gets fixed in the near future I would rate this headset 5 stars out of 5 stars. The chat microphone is very important on a game headset to communicate to your team.
I got bought this headset today, set them up (very easy setup), did the adapter update, and checked them out. I loved them! They are light, comfortable, amazing build quality and good sound...then I tried to talk to one of my friends over XBOX LIVE...disaster. He couldn't hear me until I cupped my hand from my mouth to the mic and almost yelled, and even then he said he could barely hear me. I then setup the XO Four from Turtle Beach and everything was reversed. The XO Four is tight, uncomfortable and heavier than the 4 shot...but my friend could hear me just fine. So I am in a Sophie's Choice situation between being heard by my teammates or having a blistering headache from the vice grip of the XO Four. UGH! So, in short. Good sound! VERY comfortable! EXCELLENT build quality! But the bad mic ruins the entire experience...
sound quality is awesome for other peoples voices and in game sound but the fact no one can hear me is a huge problem.. whats the point of a mic if you cant talk?
Like a lot of other reviews my mic does not work unless you are yelling. Granted they are working Ina patch to fix it, the xbox one came out in November, which was three months ago, shouldn't they put out a product that shouldn't need to be fixed out of the box!?!?! Second the volume control does not work, there are two buttons on the left, one for game volume select and one for chat volume, hitting either button just turns game volume up or down like the ones on the right so I'm stuck listening to people screaming in my ear. I'll decide if I'm going to keep or return them in a "couple" weeks once they put their patch out. First and last Polk audio product I'll ever purchase....will be returning and getting a different brand that actually works
