$35 for aerial flying toy performs like $100 toy

I walked by this product in a Walmart aisle during the Christmas season, and -- $35 for a flying toy quadcoptor? RTF (ready-to-fly), 2.4Ghz, standard controls, and night flyable, even? Yes! It's rather large for a flying toy, but weighs almost nothing. Instead of foam, this is made of actual plastic! For such a cheapie, it even has a whopping 20 LED's so works perfect for night flying. (I did have to color some of the white LED's so I knew the front from the back). The props are large but spins at a relatively low RPM, so only stings if I put a finger in. It even flys stable when pressed against the wall or ceiling, and doesn't lose control when you suddenly reverse full throttle. Impressive stability for a $35 toy. Definitely fly in a large area until you are familiar, then it's precise enough to slalom nicely inside the house (if you're careful & experienced), with enough precision to fly through doorways. Flies well in winds up to about 20mph, which is rather surprising for a $35 toy. Just make sure you get experienced with flying/crabbing sideways in the wind. The drone's LED lights flash when the battery is starting to die, it flies for another 3 minutes more before it has to land (but I recommend landing it sooner, to preserve the battery's quality of recharging) Handles quite a lot of crashes with grace (even the occasional crash onto asphalt) but be careful about crashing often into hard objects, as motors may run rougher after a lot of impacts. If this was a $100 toy I might nitpick about the lack of protection covering the plastic motor gears, but the landing gear and prop guards are there to essentially prevent from that happening, anyway. (If you crash it into snow, make sure you blow the snow right away off the exposed gears and then bring the toy inside to dry out) Uses common generic quadcoptor/drone lithium poly batteries 1C 500mAH using a very common micro-molex-style connector. Easily purchased off eBay for a few dollars each, and I bought a 6-battery charger for cheap as well (one USB port can now charge 6 drone batteries simultaneously), drone is able to carry the extra weight of 700mAH batteries (40% longer flying time). My old 300mah batteries from a different smaller micro quadcoptor toy even worked too, though those got really hot. Surprisingly fun for a $35 toy, perfectly flyable at night, and the 5-star rating is justified because of this. Suitable for beginners starting out in a park, before graduating to flying indoors. Cheap enough to be an impulse buy.

Great for a first time Flyer for experience before buying larger unit. Bought as gift for 9 year old and does the job perfect. Great for learning flying machines.

You can't really tell which way is forward, which sucks. It's battery time is amazing, and overall a lot of fun. Only problem is the forward thing that can be improved. It's a good hobby-grade drone. Flies high and looks great doing so. Looking forward to ordering from here again.

I purchased the Quadrone for my 35 year-old son for Christmas. He loves it. It flies pretty high, and does flips. It was half the price that I seen it in other stores. The only down side is it only keeps it charge for about 15 minutes.

Not worth it

Fully charged, the battery only lasts for about 10 minutes maximum. So not really worth it.
