I`m one of those black friday shoppers who waited from midnight til 5 am to get this set at the advertised black friday price of $475.00. I`m glad i did. Excellent tv for the money. Numerous hookups including much needed component inputs. Displays a better picture than some other pricier models. I can easily roll this set around the living room with a push of a finger. It`s bulky but not nearly as the older rear projection units. It`s only 2 feet wide front to back and is much easier to move than the 36 inch tube it replaced. If you want a larger screen tv with a built in hdtv tuner than consider this one.

Better than LCD

I purchased this TV a while back, and after tinkering with the set of options it has, I am truly impressed with the picture quality. I have been looking at buying an HDTV for about a year and have tried to compare different types (plasma, lcd, DLP, and projection), and have come to the conclusion that the projection tvs have the best overall picture quality. Plasma and LCD both have digital artifact problems and tend to have motion blur in high action settings, and since primarily I watch sports both of those are unacceptable. I would recommend getting and HDMI switch box while you are there getting the TV, and get a HDMI to DVI converter cable too. While this tv has enough input options, there is only one HDMI/DVI input and it is DVI(requires special converter cord). I really like the remote that it comes with, I use it to control my satellite and dvd players as the remote itself is much easier to use than the ones supplied with those different components. Bottom line for me: If you are looking for a major "WOW" factor when being entertained, and don't have a truckload of cash to spend on a TV, I would suggest you get this one. Let's face it, do we really need a TV this big, probably not, but WOW. I would also make sure you have plenty of HD programming to watch, after you get a taste of HD, you don't want tv any other way.

Very Good Buy

This is a great buy. Great picture, and surprisingly good sound. We are going to add some speakers to enhance the sound, but it's not a necessity. Not for everybody because it's not a flat panel, so you need room for it. This was replacing a 35in tv that was in an armoire, so the tv fit into our corner perfectly in place of the armoire. I couldn't be happier with my purchase so far as I didn't think I could afford a big screen tv anytime soon! FYI - we got this home in our Dodge Caravan minivan by taking the tv out of the box .

Excellent Entry to HDTV

We bought this television about a year and a half ago for $799 from Wal-Mart. The picture quality is beautiful for such a large screen (52-in). Also, we had worried about the fact that projection TV's used to be hard to see unless they were viewed head-on. This TV works great in a large room and has none of those "black-out" issues we mention above. Also, the sound quality is great and is just an overall great entry into HDTV if your room is large enough for this TV. We love it and have skipped the one-to-two thousand dollar wall-hangers for now in favor of this set. BTW, we got a HD cable for the X-box and it plays great on this set. Video games are usually hard to play on projections due to distortion, but not here.

We bought this about a year ago, and I cant complain. With the HD reciever and all the right cables its a suprisingly nice picture, its nothing like lcd or plasma but if your looking for something really big and have the space its a good deal considering an equivelently priced flat panel might get you 32 inches. Now that we are shopping for a large lcd, this projection will fit nicely in the garage as a decent gaming tv. I'de recommend it to anyone looking for a decent HDTV for less than $800... considering you have the space... its going to take alot of it!

We made the investment nearly 2 years ago. This television has since lost its reliability. I would have expected that it would have lasted more than 2 years without needing major repairs. The television now cycles off without warning. We will ultimately have to replace this television very soon. Be very careful when considering purchasing a projection TV.

I bought my 52" RCA television about two years ago from Walmart. I was never really comfortable about the way the picture showed, but I liked the idea of having a "big screen tv". That same big television stopped working about 2 months ago. I was watching television one day and the screen went blank. This was very disturbing to me because, the tv is rarely used. A few repair shops came to my home and looked at the tv and told me that they will have to replace the power button inside the television and that it was a very common problem with the 52" RCA televisions. The technicians prices ranged from $450 to $520 to repair (My warranty does not cover this issue). I decided to to upgrade to a plasma. There was no way that I was going to spend $520 to repair a $750 tv that was 2 years old. Buyers please beware. MY friend is having the same problem with her 11 month old 52" RCA.

Bought this t.v. 3 1/2 yrs. ago. Worked really well until 3 weeks ago. Power will not turn on, long story short, did research, found alot of people were having same prob. Goiong to cost $ 400.00 to fix it. Paid $1100.00 when I bought it 3 yrs. ago. I really would not recommend for anyone to buy it if you want it longrt than 3 yrs.
