I was looking for a roof rack for my car -Jeep Cherokee 2007 -with no factory installed roof rack to carry my 12 ft 70 pd kayak. Most roof racks cost between $200 and $600. Then I came across this roof carrier in the Cranberry Walmart close to Pittsburgh PA for $30. It took me about 15 minutes to install it onto the cars roof. Using the widest possible settings of the roof carrier that the roof allow me to to catch the strongest support section of the roof. I used a Yakima standard kayak foam block set-$30 to absorb the shock of the kayak on the roof carrier and to prevent it from slipping you can use swimming pool noodles too for this. I strapped the kayak down to the roof carrier and then strapped the kayak down to the car front and back. I took a 10 hour trip down to OBX and back driving highway speeds up to 70 mph. Very stable no sound no vibrations. It is strong and sit down great on the cars roof. I left the roof carrier on my car permanently.

I've seen reviews on this that are negative because of poor quality and it's cheap. It's a $30 roof rack. Of course it's cheap (inexpensive), but it's not bad quality. I have about 100lbs of weight on the rack and it's doing great. If you don't want to spend $200-$300 on a name brand rack but get the exact same use out of it, this is a great buy. The ONLY issue for my car was that the hooks didn't have a sharp enough angle, so I had to hammer them down until they fit. I installed it in about 25 minutes, I've put my cargo box on, and the thing hasn't budged at all. Again, $30. It serves the same purpose at literally a tenth of the cost of the name brand ones. So, if you are looking for performance at a good price, don't care that there are visible straps, and you don't mind it not having a name brand, this is a perfect roof rack system.

I have a 2004 Kia Rio Cinco (unfortunately lol) and needed roof racks for kayaking because my roof was getting dented and scratched up. I looked into custom fitted ones but they started around $200 then I found these. I was hesitant because of the bad reviews but I'm 100% satisfied! First off they're only $30. Took about 5 minutes to assemble (make sure to PROPERLY thread the straps for a tight fit) and 30 seconds to secure in place. Don't know the weight limit but I've easily fit two 10ft+ kayaks with no bend in the rails. The ONLY downfall is if you don't have anything weighing them down you'll hear some shaking while driving which is why I take the whopping 30 seconds to take them off and store in my trunk. Last thing, if you're cheap (which you probably are if you're buying these) then most pool noodles for only a few dollars fit perfectly over the rails as alternative rack pads vs spending at least $20 for real pads plus they come in all kinds of cool bright colors!

Bought on 25 May 2013. Used it on 1997 RAV4 to carry 16 Landscaping timbers. The bars held the weight no problem. The width is adjustable to narrow medium or wide on each side of the bars. We used the narrowest but should have used the medium so the weight of the load would be on a stronger part of the vehicle roof. Even though that strong part is over the channel where the roof molding belongs. We paid about $30 dollars and think the value is there. The racks were easy to assemble with a screwdriver and pliers, following the directions. and once assembled (15 minutes) it took less then 3 minutes to install on the car. We did not notice any noise and the racks held firmly in place without causing any damage to the car. When unloading the end cap fell off the bar and I had to slip it back on. I put the racks on a 2007 Buick Lacrosse at the widest setting but did not want to take the chance of putting a heavy load on it because all the weight of the load goes to the four feet and I did not want to chance denting the roof on my good car. It was not quite wide enough to get to the strongest part of the roof on the LaCrosse

I drove for 2 and 1/2 hours with a canoe on top. It was noisy with the straps I had to hold it down. But this rack works like it suppose to. A very good price and good roof rack.

Very disappointed will need to repaint the entire roof of our 2012 Jeep Liberty. The pads left marks that couldn't be buffed out with rubbing compound. 3 of the 4 straps left marks as well. This was after 1 use.

We bought it for a trip that we were taking to texas and on the way there the rubber leg parts fell off and the ties came undone 1/2 way there. Then on the way back the front rail hooks bent releasing it from the front doors where it was to be placed. The bag that was on top flew to the back nearly breaking our rearview window. Needless to say we had to pull off the highway put the bags in the vehicle and we drove 10 hours cramped and in a bad mood!!!! But I guess you get what you pay for.

Hello, well the first thing I have to say is the description don't say nothing about the capacity of charge or the weight. Well that is because depend of the capacity of the ruff, yes the ruff of you car, the legs have some kind of rubber and I don't take the risk of scratch my car, I returned the cross bars.

Had the rack mounted on a 2003 honda accord - it did not stay secure on the vehicle at highway speeds. This was the only time we tried to use it.
