After attaching to my riding lawnmower, I am able to easily attach any lawn accessory with ease. No more bending over to insert cotter pin into a flimsy shank.
This is exactly what I needed. MOST adjustable receivers are absurdly expensive and or have a much larger travel. I needed this for a Dodge 3/4 ton van, the hitch is tucked up right under the bumper, but with the full size body it's quite a ways behind the rear wheels, and a straight hitch would be way too low for most applications. With this I was able to raise it up fully and the rear doors still clear and now my utility trailer and bumper pull camping trailer line up straight on level ground and don't bottom out at the tongue when crossing railroad tracks. I would highly recommend this if you need a moderate raise or drop in your hitch height. It's another well built Reese product. It does come with one non locking pin for the adjustable portion, I replaced it with a locking pin and added one to the receiver as well.
Great tow hitch. It worked perfect on my truck with a lift. It has a lot of play on the pins so I thought it would be loud while towing, but I didn't hear a thing. Two thumbs up!
So inexpensive I bought two... one for my small 1-7/8" ball and one for my 2" ball... now I can switch height and / or size without much effort. Quality Product at a great price... free delivery to the store to pick up... A+++
I am giving this review after owning this product for over 5 years. I am having to replace it after being rear ended recently. The hitch suffered enough damage to warrant replacement, however it absorbed a lot of the impact and saved other parts of my vehicle from bigger damage. I am a contractor and use my truck daily, towing several different trailers and this hitch has been a perfect solution to a common problem.
Overall it is a great product. The only thing I would suggest would be one more set of holes for extra adjustments or double pin security.
Unit had a lot of play and movement when put together did not like that 1 pin holding pcs together so redrilled another hole and used 2 grade 5 bolts to hold pcs together also the pin hole to hold into the receiver was to far back on unit so i moved location by redrilling another hole in draw bar now it it is a good working unit which still is adjustable.
but, you'd be better off buying the right height hitch instead. Having 2 parts on the hitch with pins is too much - way too much noise from the rear end.
This was purchased to be used as a front receiver hitch. Because the distance from the hitch pin to the end of the hitch was not given, it is too short to clear the front bumper, and totally useless for my needs.
I pulled a simple 6.5' x 16' enclosed trailer with a few garden hand tools (maybe 200lbs at best), a small Fertilizer spreader/sprayer unit (solid 600lbs max loaded), and 8 bags of dry fertilizer (total 400lbs )(50lbs each bag). So under this 1200lbs my Reese Towpower Adjustable Hitch bar bent next to the hitch ball shank. I've been around trailers my whole life, from Dads boat and campers, to being a Landscaper with dump trucks and flatbeds hauling Bobcat skid steer machinery, to driving commercial Tractor Trailer rigs weighing 80,000lbs for a living. This is unacceptable, so I called Reese and they gave me a line of garbage saying my load was to heavy, not realizing my experiences with towing and weight limits (ie, must know weights and limits when pulling Tractor Trailers, duh.). So they wanted me to speak with this person and that person and finally an engineer. When I realized they were not going to honor the Lifetime warranty, I threw it away and bought a better grade unit. Enough said. Don't buy this unit for saftey reasons.
