[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not handstitching anymore. This sewing machine is very much plug-and-play. It has pictures to decide which stitch she would like with a simple touch of a button. It also has the direction to pull the thread so you can sew I do like the fact that it also comes with a nice dust cover. It keeps a little kids fingers where they don't belong, this will make life so much easier and it's all self-explanatory and I like the lightweight foot pedal which if you attach it to the table leg you can also use your knee instead of your foot. I do like that I will be getting ours of good use out of this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This singer can do it all! Different stitches, different button holes and much much more. There isn't anything that you can't make with this machine. Clothes, curtains, and more! ai justs don't have room to list all the things that can be made with this machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not being a person to sew this machine is the perfect answer. The quick start instructions are easy. You can get the manual on line no cost. All you need to do is select the stitch you need and the machine does the rest. It has a needle threader which is great. It has 3 different foot peddles, atomatic bobbin threader, and dust cover. This is a joy to use.
Purchased this sew machine as a gift. Was a little worried as it was factory serviced, but spent $9.00 for the extended warranty to cover that. I tried all the stitches and it works wonderfully and am very happy with Singer and the excellent timely delivery from Walmart - right to my door. Would recommend this sewing machine to anyone looking to sew some fun things!
Bought this for myself because my old one just gave up after 30 years and I'm very glad I did. Lots of nice features on this machine and yes, I tried them ALL just to make sure everything worked like I expected. Love the buttonhole feature and decorative stitches...will be using those quite often, I'm sure. Also love that this machine will allow the use of twin-needles. That's something my old machine wouldn't work with. Makes topstitching so nice. A nice assortment of accessories are included, too. Would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a new machine!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Singer 5400 is perfect for someone new to sewing and wants something easy to set up and start using. It only took me a few minutes using the quick start guide provided, along with a very instructive video on the Singer YouTube channel and I was ready to go. The machine has plenty of stitches for every kind of project. Essential stitches for mending, stretch stitches for fabric that needs to be flexible, decorative stitches, and it even has 4 one step buttonhole functions that are fully automatic. The LED on the front of the machine is easy to read and change depending on what stitch you need as well as the width of the stitch. There's only a few buttons to changes stitches so you're not spending a lot of time figuring out the use of the machine. Along with a quick start guide, the machine itself has an easy to follow guide right on the machine to show you how to thread your machine. The light shining onto the sewing area is bright, and allows for easy viewing of your fabric and stitches. There's a small storage compartment on the machine comes off easily and it's part of the machine keeping everything together in one place. The Singer is not heavy and easily movable whether you need to keep it in your sewing room or move it out to the kitchen table. Again, I think this is a great machine for a new sewer or perfect for someone that does the occasional mending of clothing or wants to tackle small homemade projects.
This machine was a Christmas gift for my youngest daughter. Fortunately, I had been able to go out to visit her, and was able to be there when the sewing machine arrived. Since she's a mother of two young children, and hasn't sewn for years, I offered to set up the machine for her. Long story short, it wouldn't start. Thankfully there was a Walmart near her home, and they did have the same machine in stock. I was able to replace the machine, and returned the original to Walmart. That machine did start, and worked well. I am very glad that I was there to be able to handle the situation for her. The original sewing machine definitely did not meet expectations, and would not have been a great gift, but the replacement did.
I bought this sewing machine to make masks for people in need during COVID-19. It is very easy to use. The only issue I had with it was some threads kept jamming. I feel cotton thread works best, or cotton wrapped polyester.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, my experience with this machine has been surprisingly good. I'm not a sewer by any means but this machine was simple enough to use for first timers. After I got past the initial set up of the machine, I was able to explore the many different settings. I like the pre loaded choice of stitches which definitely helps.
I was very disappointed in this machine. The bobbin wouldn't wind properly. It just got all gummed up. When trying to put a bobbin in the machine, the whole bobbin casing fell out. The settings on the right side of the machine didn't move at all. Could not adjust anything. I would not recommend a computerized machine or one that has to be factory serviced. In the past I have always had Singer machines and been very happy with them, but not this one.
