The HD-1 works very well with recording software but with stereo outputs and internal mixing, is outstanding for direct recording as well. Many drummers have discovered that many electronic drumkits are not necessarily all that quiet but the Roland HD-1 features a kick pedal and drum pads that are especially noiseless without any sacrifice of dynamics or sensitivity. The HD-1 snare pad is the mesh-head type for realistic snare drum feel and expression. There are also 3 tom pads, 2 cymbals, a hi-hat pad and the HD-1 module which is mounted front and center for easy visibility. All of these features and capabilities come at the lowest price of any Roland V-Drums kit and is also among the lowest-priced electronic drumkits available.
