I've installed and used a few different for knob handles. My 3 year old twins could figure them all out and open the door it was a constant worry because we live near a busy street. I received the outsmart knob covers and installed them immediately. Not only are my twins not able to turn the door knob, they are also unable to figure out how to unlock my door now. These are fantastic! I'm finally able to not worry about my babies managing to open the door and run outside in the street.
This is a great door knob cover! Compared to other styles and brands I would choose the outsmart knob cover! It has a little cover over the lock so that you can block it or remove to unlock the door. Even looks nice on the door handle compared to other bulky styles.
What a great product. I've never used doorknob covers in the past because I've never had to worry about my kids trying to open doors, but when I got these I was excited to try them. They seem to be made well, and does the exact job that they are meant for. I've seen some that are hard for adults to even open the door but these seem to keep kids from opening doors but adults are able to with ease.
I like the Outsmart knob Covers by Safety First I received this as a campaig from bzzagent at no cost to me. Unfortunately all my handles are not round but lever like. I found one I could try this on. My outside porch. Trying to open it was difficult. I had to get something hard and pointy to help me press down on the button to open the knob, In order to be able to install. Once opened though it was easy to install. So far my 3 year old, he can't open the door so I say it works pretty well. I would recommend this for parents of children 1 year and older. Love the fact that the front is soft if you have a lock that pushes in, you have to remove it if it is a twist lock though.
I have standard knobs on my doors. Myself and my husband struggled to get the knob cover installed. Once on it did prevent my toddler from being able to open the door but I also couldn't get it open. Also, once the knob cover was on it would not let the door latch release. Perhaps it fit too snug? It definitely did its job by not allowing the door to be opened but I also couldn't open the door. I think the overall design needs some work.
These unfortunately didn't fit any of our doorknobs. It's a shame because we have 2 toddlers who have figured out most of the locks in our house. I was excited for these to arrive because they sound like a great idea. Maybe make them in sizes or adjustable to different door handles. I am sure I would rave about them if I could use them
I love the idea of keeping my children out of rooms they do not need to be in..like the hall closet or the main bathroom. The knobs are a little small for my door knobs. The clasp around the outside of the contraption doesn't close all the way. If that size was just a bit wider it would clasp perfectly. It definitely helps keep my kids out of the rooms they have no need being in. It's great. You have to add a bit of extra pressure but I only think it's because it's not fully closed around the door knob.
I've gotten other baby proofing products from this company so I trust the brand, however these knobs did not work for our household. The product was too small to cover our knobs and most of them are not push locks, but twist. Our toddler has learned to open doors so we were really hoping this would work out. The knob covers would work great for anyone with this particular type of door knob.
These covers go on fairly easily and are not impossible to use. However, they are also not hard for a two-handed toddler to figure out within a short amount of time. Good for younger toddlers, not so good for older toddlers
These doorknob covers had good intentions but just failed. First of all they are so difficult to put together and the plastic is thick in all the wrong places. Once we got it on the doorknob it didn't work as intended - like our doorknobs are too big. Then my husband cut himself trying to get it off the knob, by using scissors between the gap to pry open the cover. Just not a good design all around. We will stick with the ones we had been using.
