I received the last generation camera when my child was born and was upset when the app let us know that it had been d/c after about two years. The company then notified us we could receive a new model at no charge. I love the way the new camera looks, the app works well and the FAT32 storage option is fantastic. I actually purchased three more of these because I was so pleased with them. We have septicon and Funlux cameras as well and I think these are much better cameras and a better value. I contacted customer support because two of my cameras stopped working, they sent new power wires and they are both working perfect again. I highly recommend these cameras and would buy them again.
Loved the previous model… forced to upgrade to this one- but it was free. Camera aesthetic and video quality is improved but that's it. I hate that you can't turn your phone either way to view full screen. You have to PAY for cloud storage or buy a memory card to even just view your moments/events now… I'd at least expect to be able to save clips from the same day. Also dislike that you can't adjust sound and motion sensitivity for notifications anymore. I keep getting an error when trying to add my husband as an admin- so that is frustrating as well. The app is kind of extra. It's like a smart home app instead of just a monitor. I just want my baby monitor to come up and not to select 2 different things to view live. I like the old version a lot better. Will be getting a different monitor soon.
Very upsetting that safety 1st is making current owners of the previous version of this camera have to purchase this new product, because our current camera will cease to function next month. This is unfortunate because I loved my camera and would have recommended it based on performance, but I can longer recommend based on uncertainties that their product can be used for many years. I am not one to unnecessarily replace electronics and this is forcing me to be wasteful and spend more money.
I am having the same problem as the other reviewers. I purchased this item as a replacement for the discontinued one (which I loved). This one is a cheap failed product. It literally stopped working. We cannot get it to turn on anymore. Just straight up stopped working. Makes a great paper weight. I want my money back or a replacement under the one year warranty, but I reached out to customer service weeks ago and still haven't heard back. They know this product is a failure and they don't want to admit to any liability. Skip this one if you actually want to see your baby.
Good intentions, BAD execution with this "upgrade". The developers totally missed the mark on this one. The app is overly complicated, the camera does not have full range of motion (only adjusts up & down), you cannot adjust noise and motion sensitivity, the dual camera set up in nice in theory but you cannot view it horizontally on your phone/tablet (only vertically which makes each images super small) & I do not love having to subscribe to see past moments. Appreciate the aesthetics of the new design but that's about it. If you ask me, the team leading this project focused on the wrong things.
I bought the previous model in 2019. I am now being forced to buy the newer model because the company decided to discontinue the previous model. I do not recommend this product to anyone. Expect to have to buy a new model every couple of years. This is how the company rips off its customers.
I upgraded my baby monitor to this due to the mandatory upgrade. I spent so much time researching all baby monitors & picked the safety first monitor because it gave me the ability of a great camera, access to my camera from anywhere via my cell phone & a parent audio unit that allowed me to not have to run the camera on my phone continuously if I was home. I LOVED my baby monitor- it was everything I was looking for in what I felt I needed & the market just doesn't have a camera like the first version out there. I've had it for 3 years & would have bought another one in a heart beat. All change is hard but this is extra painful. This new camera is terrible quality- in a middle of the day nap & I cannot see my child because the picture is so dark. There is no "night" vision that works. It's as if I don't even have a camera in the room. I do not prefer a wall mount for the camera & the design of this camera greatly limits placement/views from a shelf. The app is frustrating- I want to open it to view my child ASAP- not click through other options before getting to the camera. It should be camera first in the app & other options second. I understand what they are trying to offer in an all in 1 app but it's not done well for someone who wants the camera as first priority. I would keep looking for a monitor (unfortunately I am looking now, too!) & skip purchasing this one. I do not believe this monitor can offer parents a reliable picture or easy to use app & overall will leave you disappointed in your purchase.
I bought the previous version to monitor my aging mother who is bedridden. When it worked, it worked well, but often would become disconnected, sometimes for hours at a time. Hard reboot sometimes fixed it, not always. Now you're just being greedy by disabling the previous version with very short notice. I will never trust Safety 1st again. It's one thing if a phone or computer or TV is old and there's a better technology. I can live with an older model phone, etc., until it breaks. You have decided to throw out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak. You tell me I MUST buy the new model. The old model will be worthless on November 1. Nope. There are other monitors out there and I will be looking for one from a company that cares about their customers and doesn't strong-arm them into buying a replacement.
The camera never wants to connect. I have tried several different locations and it doesn't make a difference. The camera seems to never connect and when it does it for a second then freezes and doesn't stream the video.
This is a piece of garbage. waste of money. It does not work.
