Crystal clear FM reception even in a remote area over 60 miles from transmitter. Atomic clock synchronized in a few hours, but in the meantime I could use the manual setting. When tuned to one station, it even scrolls the current weather, the name of the station and the program then playing! And the dock is great for recharging and/or playing through the speakers.
This radio is what we bought after a long search for a decent sounding clock radio. The vast majority of alarm clocks out there are pure junk! This has a very nice sound and works great. We love the soft wake feature and how you can adjust both radio stations and volume for each alarm. I will definitely be buying Sangean products from now on.
My previous clock radio defied reprogramming after any power disruption. Criteria for a new radio included BATTERY BACKUP, dual alarms, digital tuning/readout, preset stations and atomic clock. This is clearly a superior device meeting my requirements. I have no need for the iPod dock but I found no alternative not including it and it does not degrade the function. There are two options for synchronizing with the atomic clock, either directly or reception with an equipped FM radio station which should meet most requirements. Setup is not necessarily intuitive and requires the manual. The manual is intimidatingly thick but is repeated in five languages so only the first 38 pages are relevant for a speaker of English. The English portion is marked "GB", presumably Great Britain, so Americans may find a curiously spelled word here and there. Setup instructions are adequate but SAVE THE MANUAL for guidance on future manipulations. All in all, function and performance meet the bill.
This is a great radio. I now have one in the bedroom, one in the bathroom, and one in the kitchen. Sounds wonderful, AM & FM both come in clear. Even my classical station sounds amazing. Love the display with brightness control, love that it tells you the station call letters, artist and title. Handy, easy to use remote. Compact size, and it looks good. I don't have an IPOD but this makes me want to get one. It's so hard now to find a good clock radio. I've tried out them all, and the competitors are all cheap and tinny sounding. This one is it. Bonus: reasonably priced -- go figure!
I am completely happy with this radio. The controls take a little care while getting used to them. with the well written manual it's quite easy to figure them out. The sound is great for s small set and the display is excellent. Well worth the price
This has great sound. Using the presets is easy. I am not using it as an alarm, but I think it may take a while to figure it out the first time. I like how some stations show the song tittle and artist names, station names. The remote control is great, it does just about everything. I'm glad I purchased it!
I was quite pleased to find that this clock radio was actually better than I had expected. In addition, I had priced this exact same unit at Amazon and 2 other sellers and Walmart's price was more than 50 dollars less! I know it might sound goofy, but I don't even own an ipod, so I cannot comment on how well it works with this radio or how well it charges the ipod. I bought this radio for the sound as well as some of it's other features. I have used an older model bose radio and I would say that the sound from the Sangean is quite comparable. It has individual control over bass and treble and has a full sound to the speakers. The alarm clock works very well. I love the humane volume level. It's a real pleasure to have the radio come on at a low level and rise slowly. No more jolt of blaring music to frighten me awake. The radio also has imput jacks so that if you want to connect your phone or mp3 player to play, you have that extra option. As far as the alarm, it only has the option of setting two alarms with the choice of only "daily", "only" or "weekend". My last alarm allowed me to program every single day - so I was a bit spoiled by that. I had only one complaint about the clock. Although it has two different ways to set the atomic clock, I was unable to make either work. I don't know if it's a problem in my area or the radio. Fortunately, it does allow you to set the time manually, and that worked fine for me. Overall, I would recommend this clock radio. It's an excellent choice for the price and you won't be disappointed in the sound. It's not like a stereo system, but in comparison to most radio alarm clocks out there, the sound on the Sangean is quite superior. Kudos to Walmart for their pricing. What a great deal.
Surprised at how good these small speakers sound. Like that you can choose buzzer that gradually increases in sound or a preset radio station for the alarm. Took a little reading and a couple of tries to figure out clock settings but very happy with purchase
I've had this a week now and so far so good. It replaced my Ihome, which lasted 2 years. If you are considering buying this radio for your iPhone or iPod remember it has a 30 pin dock, you will need to buy a lightning adapter for newer iPods or iPhone 5, it works fine.
I bought this radio to replace a TEAC model. The feature that I had been looking for was a radio that had preset station features and a remote control. The remote control does not allow you to select the indiviual preset stations, which was not revealed in the specification review that was given when I was reviewing several radios. If I had known that was not available, I would have continued my search. Otherwise, it is a good radio, nice sounding speakers. The RDS is a very nice feature. I would have probably would have given this product an excellent rating if the remote control had of been able to have the indiviual station selection.
