The first day I got it I thought it was messed up because the camera kept freezing or turning off. It would indicate that is had a low battery. So, I went and bought some rechargeable batteries and now it works great. I've had no problems with it since, even the quality is great. ^_^ I would recommend it.
I bought this camera the day before my son's wedding as my other camera died the day before. I took some photos on it and things seem to be working fine and from what I could see, the pics were of a very good, sharp quality. However, in the evening the flash didn't seem to go off at times and then to my dismay, the lens failed to retract. I pushed all buttons and nothing happened and then decided to open up the battery compartment and then swapped the batteries around and then closed the compartment and the lens finally retracted. I used the camera a couple of other times and the same issue with the lens happened so I contacted Sanyo here in California and was given specific instructions to return the camera to them for replacement. The customer service was very good and I have just sent the camera back to the company and for those who have complained that they didn't get much assistance from customer service, I suggest you listen to them carefully and follow their instructions to the letter and you shouldn't have any problems per se. Thus far I can't fault Sanyo's Customer Service Division and hopefully in a few days, I will receive a new replacement camera that won't have any further problems. Sure, the camera is cheap and I'm not a professional photographer so I wasn't expecting a camera with all the bells and whistles on it, and for what I want, it serves the purpose nicely. I do like point and shoot cameras that are easy to use and this is both, but it does have a few quirks.
Don't waste your money. The camera is quirky. It freezes from time to time and the batteries only works for a short time. It uses AA bateries and the camera does not work for long. Spend a little more for a good camera.
I agree with the other reviews on this camera.This is a very poorly made camera.It runs sluggish,and it feels cheap.Like one of the $20.00 kids cam's.After putting a memory card in it ,the battery door wouldn't even close properly.Although the far away picture quality is good, it's not as good on closeups(see photo's below)
I received one for a Christmas present and the 4 pictures I was able to take were blurry and then the camera shut off and would not turn back on.
Only bought this because my s1414 got dropped and they had already upgraded, AND all stores and online were out of it. worst mistake ever. The functions are almost non-existent compared to the 1414, when using the intelligent function, all pictures came out horrible and blurry. Took a picture of my daughter IN HER CARSEAT, and not moving and her picture wasn't clear. Would NOT recommend to anyone. I will be returning this tomorrow. I'd rather buy a used camera on ebay than this. Looks cheap, also. very thin plastic casing. You have to hit several buttons just to get video camera on. The camera takes pictures very slowly too. The first light in the flash makes ppl blink.
For the specifications, you think you're getting a good camera. But it's not. The software in the camera is sluggish and even freezes. This is especially worse when pressing one of the buttons to look through pictures or adjusting picture size. The warranty is a joke. customer service carries bank hours. So if you work through the day like most people, you can't ever call them during their business hours. I will never buy another Sanyo product again--well we'll see if Panasonic can turn them around. I just found they bought the company.
