Bookcase headboards for queen size beds are hard to find if your looking for a higher quality piece of furniture. We bought one a few years ago in MI. & had to order it and it took 5 weeks to get it! It also cost 4 times as much! This one looks almost as good, was easy to assemble, not too heavy, & suites our purpose. It also came a week after I ordered it, which was great!We would recommend.
This is an excellent product! It didn't take long to put them together..... the directions were simple and they used pics instead of a lot of words..... my boys love their new headboards. And it makes their room look nice and big boyish.... :)
I shopped around for a book case headboard and found lots that I liked, but every single place said they would have to order it AND I wouldn't get it until January. Really? I work in logistics and I know how long it takes to get something from point A to point B. I continued my quest and found this one that was $10 cheaper than another one I had looked at and free shipping if I had it delivered to a Walmart near by. For $3 more I could have it delivered to my door. Can't beat that! I ordered on Monday and received it on Thursday. It took about an hour and a half to put together and it's perfect for our bed and our room. Couldn't be happier. Great buy, great product, great service. Thanks!
Bought this over a year ago when I was moving in with my boyfriend. He was able to put it up quite easily. I love having a place where I can keep my ebook handy along with my tv and wii remotes. The drawers were a good touch for anything I don't want the cat to get to in my room.
I've been using the same, plain headboard since I lived at my parents' house- -and I've now been married for 28 years! It was WAY time for a new headboard and I saw this one on www.WalMart.com and fell in love with it! Merry Christmas to me! No, it isn't an expensive $200 or $300 headboard, but it is very nice!
First off, I'm not a particularly strong woman and I could put this together by myself. In fact I ordered two night stand, the dresser, the toy chest, and this head board and I could up every piece together by myself. Trust me, I was highly skeptical about purchasing these (had them in my cart for two weeks and looked EVERYWHERE ELSE to keep from buying these and having to build them) and I'm happy with every piece. This head board was exactly what I was expecting, and fairly easy to put together. One of the steps; however, step 8, where you attach the front (panel F) to the rest of the head board, is better done if you flip the headboard onto its face and screw the angle brackets in with Panel F resting on the floor into Panel G. Perhaps they had a reason for wanting you to stand it on it's top and to do it from that angle. I just couldn't deal with the sliding around. The thing I will mention, and why it gets a 4 out of 5. is the DRAWERS ARE HORRIBLE. Can they be done? Yeah. If I was building it again would I skip them and leave a shelf. DEFINITELY. If you are set on having the drawers save yourself some heart ache and use a staple gun, because I was ready to throw the draw out of the window trying to use the nails. Using the nails caused the drawer to continually fall apart. The staple gun helped resolve the issue some. I wish Sauder would charge an extra $25 and give me some decent drawers to put in. Anyway, trust me. You can put this together. The headboard is sturdy. Other notes: If you're buying a few pieces, consider putting together the night stands first. The first night stand took me the longest put together, but honestly it was because the reviews freaked me out and I was determined to make sure I made no mistake. The night stand made great starting pieces because they have all the pieces and elements the bigger pieces have and if you make a mistake it didn't seem to me to be as big of a loss. Oh, and the white is pretty white!
I ordered this for my daughters room who has a full size bed since this was listed as Full/Queen. I will start off by saying this was very time consuming for my husband to build. In addition the drawers are meant to hold together with double sided tape. The tape that comes with it has one side that will never peel off. We had to go buy tape ourselves. Once this was finally put together and he attached the bed frame there was a gap so large next to each side. It looked awful. Also note this is a very large piece of furniture and unless your room is of a master bedroom size OR if you don't have much in the room this would work. But with a desk, bookshelf, and tv stand and nightstand this was too bulky. Needless to say after all his hard work I'm returning this item. I gave three stars only due to there customer service. When I contacted the store they said we do not have to take this apart. We can cut out the photo with UPC code from box along with my receipt and simply bring to the store for refund. I was very pleased with that. Walmart does have excellent customer service.
The headboard is nice looking, if you don't look to close. Minor imperfections in the woodgrain veneer (it's particle board). The drawers are another story. Extremely poor design and would not go together at all. Nothing lined up on them and they were very flimsy. Even for Sauder's these drawers are poor! We expected what we got with the headboard, but we're really disappointed with the drawers. We wuld recommend it only if you realize how it's made.
Instructions focused on brevity at the expense of clarity. a. You need a very detailed person to identify which hole to insert pegs. Only after selecting the wrong hole did I 'notice' the drawing. A 'blow-up' of the hole location would have prevented my mistake. b. Assembly of the drawer needs better explanation. An additional person to hold pieces in place is much appreciated. c. Assembly of sides to rest of unit either requires two people. The heavy side pieces must be stabilized to assemble the other components. I ended up placing books to use to level the piece I was trying to assemble to the heavy sides A and B. d. If instructions were written correctly, they would use words "Caution" or "Recommend". This would focus the individual that (a) it is an EASY project...but... Pay Attention to Details...because (b) it is a good design, functional and worth the trouble to assemble.
Well, I know this was cheap but it is worth about $30. It's made of paper. I mean really it is made of PAPER. The drawer bottoms are cardboard stuck together with tape. Part of the drawer face had already peeled off.
