The product was advertised to carry a heavy TV so I gave it the real test and put my full 240 lbs on it with no problem. The unit wouldn't hold up to regular use as a ladder, but it will hold your TV without any problem. Despite the heavy-duty build, the unit is moderately easy to move, plus it allows space behind the cabinet to access the electric wall outlet so you don't have to move it each time to change DVD players etc. The size dimentions were exactly as shown in the advertisement. The unit is not overly stylish and the veneer is thin and easily scraped, but this is a solid value for the dollar.
A great buy for the money. My friend put it together for me and it took less than an hour. It looks great with my new 42" flat screen. Other reviews I read said that the color was darker than it appeared online. I think the color is right on target and it matches my other furniture perfectly. Would definitely recommend this as you can't beat the price and it doesn't look like it was that inexpensive.

I am thrilled to death about my purchase. It is everything I imagine it to be and more. It goes great with my own furniture, it blend in great with my wood trim on my sofa and love seat. It took my 17 years old son less than two hours to put together all by himself.
This TV stand is well constructed. It is made of press board but the faux wood grain is of good quality. The shipment arrived without damage (Site-to-Store delivery) all needed parts and pieces were included and the dimensions were accurate. Assembly was simple (the included instructions were excellent) and took about 1 hr and 15 mins (me and my 15-year old daughter). I have a 42-inch plasma TV (about 80 lbs) on on the stand and it is very stable. For the price, look, and quality of construction this piece is a real bargain. I would recommend putting glides in the legs of the stand before placing the TV on it so that it can be easily slid to access cables and power outlets behind the unit.
i have been using hand-me-down tv units since going off to college. i'm actually getting ready to sell my house and my agent told me i need a nicer looking tv stand. i truly believe that i got the BEST tv stand for the price. it looks like real wood and after setting it up, my husband and i commented on why we hadn't spent made this purchase 2 years ago. it made ALL the difference in the room. it was hard to find a stand that would support larger, older television models, but this one was perfect. there is plenty of room for a 36" CRT tube television (and it doesn't overcrowd the space), DVD player, video game system and digital cable box. There is lots of storage on the side cabinets as well. set-up was super easy and only took us about an hour to put together. we ordered online and had it shipped to the store for pick-up. it was convenient and easy - and saved us lots on shipping. i recommend this product to anyone who cannot afford "real wood" and is looking for a classy alternative.
Bought one for the TV room downstairs, liked it so much purchasing another for the den upstairs. One holds a 47" flat screen that fits perfectly on the unit. The other holds an older 32" standard TV and a stereo component system right next to it. Well made, easy to assemble.
I was looking for a more traditional looking piece of furniture to house my flat screen television in my bedroom. The purchase is intended as a temporary measure until we remodel our bedroom in another few years, at which time we plan to wall mount the tv. For this reason, we elected to look for a piece of furniture that would fit in with our existing decor, but with the idea that it would not be around for longer than a few years. With this in mind, choosing this stand turned out to be the best choice for the price range. Assembly was pretty straightforward, although we ran into two minor problems along the way. We received one shattered rear support leg, and the adjustable shelf for the center section was 1/8" to wide for the opening. That being said, the Sauder helpline was both responsive and prompt about sending out a replacement leg, as well as a custom-modified shelf to fit the stand opening. (Shaving 1/8" from the laminate shelf myself was not an option.) As mentioned, this stand is a laminate (not a hardwood) product, so it is more inclined to have or receive nicks to the finish or edges. However, this is nothing that a little furniture touch up pen or oil will not minimize. One last note... to customize the stand a little more to our specific decor, I changed out the door/drawer pull hardware to something more in keeping with the existing hardware on our bedroom furniture. A small investment like this (under 10 dollars or so) can go a long way in customizing this stand to your particular environment.
This is a decent tv stand. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially to those like me with an old tube tv that weighs a ton. The weight of my tv collapsed our old stand even though it said it could handle the weight. This tv stand Sauder Universal holds the weight and it is well designed for easy installation. My only beef I had was I did the site to store (to save shipping) and ups or walmart beat up the package pretty bad leaving a few nicks in the wood. luckily it was in the back where it cant be seen. Besides that if you are intrested in this stand all I can say is get it!
