I recently purchased this jack-in-a-box for my nieces first birthday. It was a hit, not only with the children at the party but also the adults, many of whom had owned one as a child. It's sturdy and looks like it will survive a lot of love and playtime from the children.
I remember playing with a jack in the box toy when I was a baby at my grandmas house. I didn't even know they still made these until I saw this exact toy on an episode of "The Big Bang Theory". I was like whoa, no way! Had to get one for my kid. Awesome toy.
This was a Christmas gift, and is just darling. I am certain my grand-daughter will get alot of fun out of it. It seems it is made well, and has a little crank which plays music, It was delivered on time and sturdy box etc.

Its good bought for my daughter
I was so excited to find this one. I had a difficult time finding it. I would call places to ask if they had a Jack-in-the-Box and they would say "yes" and when I would visit the store, it would be a Monkey, a Bear, or some other kind of animal. I am 69 years old and when I was a child, the Jester (clown) was it. It arrived in a short time and it is in excellent condition. It's as if an old friend has come to visit after a long absence. I plan to use it as I tell my 2 and 4 year old granddaughters a story about a Jack in the Box.
I originally purchased the Olivia 1 online here sense she was pink 4 my 8 month old grand daughter and sock monkey 4 my 2 month old new baby grand son, sense there weren't many 2 choose from during XMAS I thought Olivia would play pop goes the weasel sense sock monkey does and were the same company and price! Well she didn't and the tune only played a few notes and wasn't in sync when she popped open so i returned her 2 the store no problem when I noticed online after New Years they had the 1... I originally wanted and I couldn't be more happy plays full song and luv Jester the clown very colorful! The only con was standard shipping cost like almost $4...2 my home 4 only 1 compared 2 the 97 cents 4.both, but I would pay it again 4 this 1 and it arrived in 3 days w/ standard shipping..! Ty Walmart again 4 ur returns & super fast service!
My sister-in-law wanted me to purchase a Jack-in-the-box for my 18 month old niece. It was very difficult to find a real Jack-in-the-box (there apparently are many variations other than Jack) that would arrive in a timely fashion for Christmas. Went to many large and small toy and general stores and could not find one. This item was expensive, but was exactly what was requested as a present. My niece cannot actually operate this yet, but she enjoyed the many times I wound it up for her.
This "Jack in a box" is a lot like the originals 50+ years ago except it's hard to keep the box closed because of the fastener on the box. A lot of the time, you have to maneuver the fastener to get it to close.
cute but not worth the price!
