This is really a great box, cheap and very well made. It can easily be modified to suit your needs with very little work on your part. I actually made two of these boxes into a subwoofer wall in the passthrough of my mustang. A great product that i will buy again for my next project.
i have bought 2 of these in the past 3 years... the first one i got was for my soundstorm sub ... nice sub for under $30.. i ported the box better for the sub to breath... the second box was for the red sony sub from last year... I got it hooked up to the 5 channel amp sold here at walmart... it sound alright sealed but i had to port it now i got the boom i wanted.... this is a really good box for the price and for doing it ur self... p.s. always use a different grill ..... this one is way to small....
This product is great, very inexpensive and very easy to put together. Comes with all screws and instructions needed. Takes 3 minutes to put together and works real good. It can hold up to my subs while making my car shake. Very nice looking and nice speaker wire terminals.
Great construction, cuts are almost perfect. the one thing i did different was that i've built multiple High end Boxes, but i needed this quick just to use the subwoofer. i knew the foam was likely to leak and not seal as well as i would hope to. so all i did was buy a container of wood glue, took off all foam and instead put glue in the seams. also i caulked the inside of the subwoofer. no leaks and tight bass. for the price and ease of assembly i was surprised how well it came together, a little thin for the size of the sub, minimum i would use is 3/4. but overall awesome.
Excellent design for boat subwoofer. van be cut to fit most any area. Not heavy. solid. easy to assemble. will be great for Rockford fosgate 12" marine subwoofer. thanks
For the money this is the best single sub box out there, I used general purpose Liquid nails to create a perfect seal plus the screws that came with it, works perfectly. liquid nails cost an extra 3 dollars but I knew it was worth it. this is my second purchase of one of these. just don't drop the box. MDF will crack and then it's junk.
I don't know why the other reviewer had problems, mine came together very easily. I ended up pre-drilling my own holes though, because I found the pre-drilled holes where drilled a bit too big, and I wasn't able to torque the screws tight enough before they would strip the hole. All-in-all, very easy to assemble, and no problems with the sealant, I'm thinking maybe he just forgot to remove the paper backing? Obviously it's not a competition box, you pay for what you get of course, but for the price, works great and very easy to put together.
My mom hated it when I pulled my system out of her car. So I got a 500 watt bazooka amp and a 12 inch JBL GTO woofer. I saw this box and gave it a try. Easy to put together and use. My only gripe about this box and it's a big one is air leeks around the seals of the box. And leeking air can cause a woofer to move back and forth at an angle which can ruin the voice coil, damaging the woofer. No matter how hard I tried it does. I ended up taking it apart, addind more foam sealer and re doing it with more screws. If you can afford a already done box, like online or local audio shop, (not circuit city) do that. If your in a pinch this will work but I wouldn't really recommend it.
the box itself is easy to put together and looks nice but my only issue is the supplied speaker wire is way too thin and the terminals for the speaker wire is not as pictured. it came with the cheap plastic spring loaded type which almost didn't fit my speaker wire size coming from my amp. inside the box the supplied wire is super thin and soldered in which makes it impossible to remove and install a higher quality speaker wire in its place without having to rig something up. that small wire ends up limiting ur setup if ur pushing anything over 200watts rms.
This box was not easy to put together...did not fit at seams well...the accompanying screws were too short (had to supply my own)...ended up when I was finished, I had to caulk the entire inside of the box as well to seal it!!!...last but not least...the picture shown on the website shows fibreglass damping inside which I expected to get with the sub box since the description did not say "damping not included"...so I am disappointed wtih this product and now wish I had purchased one on-line from an audio retailer!!!
