14 Years and still cutting

I purchased my Scott's Classic 14 years ago because I had a large lawn and wanted the biggest mower I could get. This unit has not disappointed. It's wide, easy to maintain, and just keeps cutting. Follow the manual, to the T, keep it adjusted and clean, and it mows. I've only had to sharpen it once, and that's mostly because I had the kit and wanted to. Best if you keep up on your lawn, let it get long and your in for harder pushing and less awesome cutting.

Easy to use, works great!

I read reviews that it was tough to push but I decided to give it a try myself. I'm a small woman and I am currently 5 months pregnant. I did my yard myself with no issues. It was easy to push and worked great! It will get stuck on branches and twigs but other than that I had no issue! I'm so glad I got this instead of a gas mower!

Simplicity

I was blessed enough to finally purchase the Scotts 20" Reel Push Mower about a month ago, and let me tell you I am still "Reeling" over the simplicity of how it works. It works wonders if you just want to clean up your lawn and give it a personal curb appeal attraction. The only drawback that I encountered was if I allow my lawn to gain any type of height then a push mower is needed to bring it back down to normal height. I started this mission in order to save of gas being released into the atmosphere and I am happier now than ever. It's affordable and brings all the eyes to my yard because it just beautiful to see. Thanks Scotts for helping me keep my home looking beautiful as always.

Enviro-friendly

I've used mine for about 10 years, and it replaced one by another manufacturer that I used for about 15 years. It uses no oil or gasoline and doesn't polute at all. It's actually much easier than a power mower to turn, because the four wheels are much closer together and it weights so much less. If your lawn isn't extremely thick, and if there are lots of turns or trees to trim around, I highly recommend it. The only maintenance is that I wipe the cutting surfaces free of moisture and wet grass after each use (to prevent rust). That takes less than 5 minutes, and I've never had to have the cutting surfaces sharpened.

Love my mower!

I've had my push mower for about 6 weeks now and I love it! It is quiet, easy to push, takes me about the same time to mow the yard as when I had a gas-powered mower, and there's no starter cord to aggravate my shoulder! Two drawbacks: it can't handle very tall grass, and in the fall it's not going to suck up the leaves for me, I'll have to go back to old-fashioned raking. But overall I am very happy with it.

Great States Reel Mowers
(5)
Reviewed in the USA on 2017-03-29T17:00:00

I am now using my Great States reel mower for about the 15th year. I have used this mower almost exclusively over the gas powered push mower. It is easy to get in and out of my shed. It is easy to push. It does a decently clean cut. It requires to tugging at a cord to start it. It requires no oil, gas, or spark plugs. It has never failed to "start" (although I have had plenty of gas powered mowers that did fail - in all ways). Even as a female (now in my 66th year), I have never found it difficult to push this mower. With a gas powered push mower, it takes about 15 minutes to mow my front lawn. With this Great States reel mower (even after 15 years), it takes about 15 minutes to mow my front law. Why on earth would I want to use one of those stinky, expensive to maintain, heavy in weight, hard to start powered push mowers? I am, however, ready to shop for a new one, although there is nothing wrong with mine. Being that it is so old, the reel mowers' design has been upgraded considerably since I purchased mine, including a wider cutting width. I am looking at different brands - Scott's, Fiskar's, etc. - and comparing prices. Knowing the quality of the Great States one and the longevity of it without any problems, I very well will purchase another of this brand.

Not Durable

Reviewed in the USA on 2021-06-09T17:00:00

This is the 3rd Scott's push mower I've bought and the 3rd time the handles have broken mid-job. I love the way my lawn looks after this mower but, the parts are just cheaper and as a result, they aren't built to last. I'll mow my 9,000 square/ft lawn both directions every time I mow, which is about every 3-4 days or risk letting it get too long to cut and you'll be weed-eating most of your lawn. It's perfect for a Bermuda lawn or something like that, not ideal for a fescue heavy lawn. It's short length means beautiful articulation and it's perfect for a lot things but durable it's not.

Rear Wheel about to fall off after one use
(1)
Reviewed in the USA on 2022-09-01T17:00:00

I was extremely excited to get this product and start mowing. But after the first use the rear left wheel is wobbling so badly it seems like it is about to fall off. I am having an extremely hard time trying to figure how to tighten it. Please advise what can be done as this is very frustrating in particular after one use. I see others have had similar issues and this is obviously an issue Scott's needs to address
