I bought this product to make sure that my valuables and important documents are safe and secure and the product does just that. It is fire proof and portable; it looks like a mini briefcase that you can lock. So I would definetly recommend this product to anyone that needs it.
honestly, I am not worried about the locking mechanism, so much as I am concerned that everything is protected from fire. My only issue, is that I just ordered over a dozen, and they sent me black instead of blue. I needed blue, and of course I only found out AFTER they have all reached their desitnation. ORDER MORE STOCK PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First this is not a personal safe. It wont keep anyone from picking the lock or better yet, just carrying it off for opening later. It will keep a curious family member from peeking inside to see what you have but most important, it will keep your non-replaceable papers safe in case of a fire. That is its sole purpose and it does that job well. It wont hold a legal size paper without curling the side slightly but it does fit. For the price of a cheap dinner out, it is good insurance for any papers or small amounts of cash you want to keep close at hand and easy access to and not worry about it getting destroyed in a fire. I keep a back-up of my computer files in here which I would hate to try and reproduce plus a video of my house contents for insurance purposes. Cant go wrong with this box. The 1100 Bl box is blue. You can get this in white, gray or black also if you can find it here.
when i placed my order the picture was blue and my fiance loves blue so i was ecstatic when it arrived and it was acutally blue. it works the way it should and fits everything perfectly
I got this for $16.00 and paid only .99cent shipping for it! It's heavy so I thought it would cost more to ship, but not with Walmart! I do own another exact model and liked it, so I purchased this one for my personal belongings. The color is just as shown, maybe a tad darker, but it's blue. I only purchased that color because it was cheaper and I would know the difference from our other one. I trust the name Sentry and pray that I will never need to test it out. The size inside can hold documents, jewelery, money, etc..It's roomy and if it didn't fit everything, they are inexpensive that you could purchase multiple ones for multiple people in the house. My thinking in a fire is that kids and animals are first, but if you are able to grab this safe, then you can literally grab and go and not be weighed down by a heavier one.
If this is your only safe then it might not be for you. I have a bigger safe and wanted added fire protection for important papers and currency inside the other safe. For $18 dollars I could not beat the quality!!! This same product was twice the price elsewhere
If you want a safe to keep your documents its ok...but it is not quite big as you would imagine. an 8x11 copy paper wouldnt fit in it. You have to fold it. But overall this product is worth the price i paid for. So i'm one happy customer :)
very useful security chest. needed a second chest for important papers,etc. was surprised to find that the same model i've had for years was still available. does what it's supposed to do.
Instructions to open this without a key are on Youtube. It shows someone opening it with a penny. Stick anything in the key slot and wiggle, and the lock opens right up.
The lock broke on this safe within 6 months of purchase. I almost could not get my valuables out of it. Would not recommend buying another key opening safe.
