I am not usually impressed enough with a product to bother writing a review, but this iron has blown me away. It is by far the best iron I've ever owned and I am 49yrs old so that says alot. The steam feature works better than any other iron I've owned. Wrinkles don't stand a chance and ironing has never been easier in my opinion. I hope it lasts a long time, but even if it's only a year I will go right out and buy another one just like it.
After reading the reviews, some negative, I still took a chance and tried this out when my much more expensive one died. This is a great, basic iron. It generates a TON or steam which is awesome. Mine has the green tank and the water level is visible when there is a light source behind it. Some of the reviews say that it runs out of water too quickly. That made me a little nervous, but it wasn't an issue in my case. It seriously might be because they don't know how to properly fill it. It needs to be filled slowly so an air pocket doesn't keep more water from being allowed. It works best if you tilt the iron at a 45° angle. When full, it sometimes does let some excess water out, so I just iron the end of my board until that stops (5 seconds, tops,) then off to the shirts I go. I iron my shirts and my two boys dress shirts about 3 times a week, plus occasionally my wife's skirts. Even with all that ironing, I fill it maybe once every week or two. That's not unreasonable by any menas. For those that run out too soon, there is a slider on the handle that adjusts how much steam it puts out. Just turn it down some, and the water lasts longer. Just read the instructions. I really have no complaints about this iron. It's a good iron and the price makes it a great iron. If you want to help it last longer, use distilled water so mineral deposits don't build up inside as quickly.
Well I had bought a sunbeam iron and wasen't pleased with that one so I took it back, well long story short I bought this shark light weight and am very pleased with the iron how ever it uses the water very fast if you like steam which I do, for the price it's perfect and professional, heats up fast as you plug it up and as far as the water tank goes for steam just add more water. all in all great product!!!
This iron works really well. The stainless steel ironing surface just glides over clothing an the steam burst is awesome. It makes light work of ironing and heats up almost instantly. The dial adjustments are iconic and I wasn't sure what I was adjusting at first. I thing maybe the usual names of fabrics and steam settings should have been labled with words. But all in all...I'm pleased with it.
I had a retractable cord with my last iron and really miss it with this one. I also have to refill the water valve halfway through each shirt. With my old iron I could get three shirts done before refilling. I just had higher expectations with a Shark and could have been happier with the Sunbeam that was cheaper. It does a good job, but is a pain to constantly refill the water.
I bought this iron and within a week I had to take it back. It was making all kinds of loud noises when I was ironing. In 2 days it had a really bad build up on the bottom of the iron. It looked great on the outside but it didn't perform like I was hoping it would. BUYER BEWARE!
We wanted a real good iron this time, so we bought the most expensive iron on the shelf. What a disappointment. The water tank is dark blue so you can't see how much water you are adding. The water won't go in unless you hold the iron at a strage angle-not upright. The on/off PUSH button is on the handle under your hand so you keep accidently turning the iron off. It has a very ustable platform and loves to fall on the floor. I've never seen another iron so poorly engineered.
I wish i had read the reviews on this before I paid $34 for this iron. I bough it 7/24/08 and very shortly after using it it leaked water all over my clothes and then started leaking out of the bottom where the cord enters the iron. Its under warranty and after some haggling they agreed to pay the $15.00 return shipping fee. If it works when I get it back it will make a great back up to the one I had to buy to replace it since it takes 4-6 weeks to repair. Needless to say the replacement was not a Shark brand iron. Also ditto on the fast use of water for steam.
I have used many different types of irons over the years. Bought this one as an extra iron for a quilting class I was teaching. Don't waste your money. It worked ok the 1st week. After moderate use, it leaks so much the ironing board was soaking wet. It took forever to get hot enough. It was so bad we just threw it away. I've used better irons in hotel rooms!
I have had this iron for 3 months. I do very little ironing. It worked fine until this past weekend when it started leaking out the bottom. I tried to iron something and it soaked the garment and continued to leak while I held it up. The body looks like chrome but is plastic. That is starting to nick near the orange on light. Read other reviews on line. There are quite a few people who have had this same problem with all of Sharks iron. To return you have to pay for shipping and have the original receipt. Shipping is about $25.00!
