This cabinet is terrific!! I had it delivered to the store to be assembled and then picked it up. The assembler (name Shawn) did an excellent job. It is perfect and I now store many pairs of shoes out of site in a lovely piece of furniture.

Smart design, better instructions needed

Overall I'm satisfied with it. I can put away most of my shoes neatly inside and it looks just like a regular cabinet. I can only fit about 9 pair of adult shoes per row, so it doesn't really effectively holds 36 pairs total. Yes, tall/bulgy shoes have a hard time fitting in. Finally and most noticeably, the instructions are not very clear on the labeling of some pieces and how one should treat rough and flush sides of each board when assembling. It also failed to mention when to assemble the little foot piece on the front bottom, which won't go in after the drawers are all assembled.

Fairly well built shoe cabinet

Materials are fairly standard -- particle or press board, laminates, screws and other hardware. Assembly took a few hours as the instructions are pretty good but are almost entirely visual and a tad confusing. If you take your time however and match all the parts, everything is included and assembly will proceed. Required tools are a phillips/cross head screwdriver and a hammer. Pros * All parts come in the package with screws and other hardware separated into separate bags * The instructions explain each part with a close up drawing to help identify the parts * The wood pieces are stamped with a letter that matches the parts in the insturctions * The wood pieces are separated properly in the packaging * It holds quite a few shoes * It looks great Cons * Due to the depth, the unit can be a bit unstable on carpet so furniture shims are suggested * If you are in earthquake country then a wall strap is recommended (not included) * The particle/pressboard parts can be snapped easily when moving the assembled unit if not careful * Instructions could be a bit clearer * The unit is very heavy and technically takes two people to move * The stamps on the wood parts are not all legible but since there are more than one of each you can match them by look and the predrilled holes

It says the box is about 100lbs, but it feels heavier. Be sure to get help in loading up the truck/suv. The assembly was pretty straightforward with ok instructions, but I don't recommend for those who are not handy. There are a lot of parts and many look similar to each other. Made primarily of particle board and fake wood grain laminates. Have a vacuum handy because there is quite a bit of sawdust. I also recommend some flush cut fine wire cutters to trim the plastic guides that need to be cut and separated from the brackets. Nail clippers might work also. You have the option to setup 2 or 3 shelves in each drawer, but for men's shoes, you will probably need to go with 2 shelves only. 36 pairs assumes 4pair x 3shelves x 3drawers, so expect to store less shoes.

Helps to organize shoes...

Overall looks of the cabinet is good. It is sleak and helps to organize shoes. The slots are narrow for male shoes but ok for female and kids shoes. The number of shoes, it could accomodate depends upon the size of shoes as well. Overall ok product from usability point but missing the WOW factor.

Good storage piece

This is the best shoe storage piece we've found to store a large number of shoes. It is decently priced, but you definitely get what you pay for, as it is all veneered particle board. A couple of the pieces were scratched on the edge, and I couldn't tell if I had scratched them while assembling the piece (although this is doubtful since I assembled it all on a carpeted floor), or if they were scratched to begin with. In the end, I just went ahead and put it all together, and the scratched areas don't really show. The set-up was fairly easy (only required a phillips-head screwdriver and a hammer), but it took a few hours assembling it by myself. The directions are so-so to follow. I've assembled IKEA furniture before, and it was similar to that. I did miss putting in one piece because it was hidden in the picture, so I had to unscrew a bunch of camlock screws and take it apart to include the missing piece. I liked that the pieces were pretty easy to identify, based on the pictures and description in the directions. The other frustration with this piece was that the 3 back pieces did not seem to be the right size. They were much shorter than what was shown in the picture in the directions. After 3 phone calls to the manufacturer (I left a voicemail each time with my name, contact information, and the specific item/lot number) I still had not received a phone call back, so my handy husband just nailed a piece of plywood to the back so that we could begin using the piece. I finally got a hold of someone in customer service today and he apologized for the missed calls. He said that email is a better way to communicate concerns with the manufacturer. It holds a lot of shoes - we use the bottom for our kids' shoes, the middle for mine, and the top for my husband's. I only put one divider in the top to accommodate my husband's larger shoes, so it won't hold has many pair. All in all, a good piece, but time will tell on its quality.

Hard to put together!

The instructions are fuzzy at best and the interior slats are supposed to just sit in there, I guess so you can remove them if you have bigger shoes then will fit in the slimmer slots. Problem with that is the slats keep falling down so we drilled screws into them holding them in place and will just have to put skinny shoes in there! LOL The drawers are also extremely difficult to get into the unit. It took us over and hour and a half just to put the 3 drawers in! Once finished it is a nice shoe rack but taking two days and having to make adjustments to the instructions to hold it all together was a royal pain.

No Shoe

This unit is rated to hold 36 pairs of shoes. Apparently they did not make a distinction between men and women shoes or the size of each. The unit is designed to hold 9 pr per shelf. Each shelf is divided into three racks using separators. This restricts the thickness and length of a pair of shoes. If they are short and thin this will work, but otherwise you will have to reapportion shelves to accommodate six instead of 9 pairs per shelf. The cabinet is only about 12 inches deep, which makes each shelf less capable of holding 9 pair. Also the unit lacks stability , is easily twisted and will tip over if not stabilized utilizing some additional modification to the frame.

Didn't meet expectations

This product has a great concept, but quality is horrible. First of all, there's way too many pieces that has to be put together. After 3 hours of installation, I went to open one of the drawers and screws started falling out. Now it doesn't take a scientist to figure out how to put a screw in, so I know that wasn't the issue. The issue was the material of the cabinet, the screws would not adhere to the cheap material. Had it been real wood, I think the results would have been much improved. This cabinet has way too many pieces to put together for the average amature and needs to be modified or sold already assembled.

It Sucks

This shoe cabinet sucks. It does not fit most of my shoes. It looks great in all the pictures but in reality it is top heavy and if it is sitting in a room with carpeting if your not careful it could fall over and unless ou only have 2 slots on each opening you won't be able to fit any shoes unless they are flats.
