I received this machine for Christmas (my first ever sewing machine) and needless to say I am totally sewing illiterate. The DVD was wonderful. I had the machine and bobbin threaded and ready to go in no time. This no-nonsense machine is perfect for beginners like me. No stress, no frustration. Just set the stitch and go. As a matter of fact, last night I made my very first project - a sewing machine cover ! What fun !
I have been sewing over 50 years and bought this machine to see why so many people "dis" the brand. First thing I did was to follow the steps in the manual and tried each feature of the machine. Next, I hemmed a pair of jeans using a jeans needle. SWEET! No hesitation as the machine hummed right along. At the flat-felled seams, I did use a "hump-jumper" to keep the presser foot level as the machine stitched through 12 layers of denim (this gadget is also needed when I use my expensive sewing machines). The pressure adjustment for the presser foot is a plus for any sewing machine let alone an inexpensive one. This adjustment allows flawless stitching of sheer as well as thick fabrics. The 1507 is light weight should you need to carry it and comes with a sturdy cover. A very good buy for a beginner as well as the "seasoned" sewing enthusiast.
This is my second Singer sewing machine purchase. My first machine has been handed down in the family and I purchased this model due to Singer's fine workmanship, quality and ease of use. I have not been disappointed in my new 1507WC machine. It threads easily, stitches perfectly and is lightweight and portable. The bobbin winder is slightly different from my old machine and if not properly threaded, according to the instruction manual, it will leave a very loopy stitch. The instruction manual is very straight forward and easy to read and the trouble-shooting information is a great resource. I am very pleased with my machine. I have just finished my second project, a quilt, and am currently designing a spring fashion suit. Thank you, Singer, for such a fine product!
I bought this machine a few years ago but only began to use it recently. The thread holder broke off and had to be reattached with glue gun. Other than that...so far it seems to be working quite nicely. I have nothing to compare it to but it has allowed me to make a few skirts and other basic projects. I just wish I was able to buy attachment feet locally. Anyway, I'm overall very pleased with the product. It's a great starter machine.
This was my very first sewing machine and i think it was quite a good starter machine. I recommend getting a simple machine like this when youre still a beginner and dont really know the basics to sewing with a machine . its been almost 4 years now and i still find it quite useful. it may not be the best one out there, but it sure helps beginners gain knowledge on how to properly use sewing machines and what they can do.
This machine was a gift for my granddaughter and for the price I paid for this machine, I was surprised at how good it is. It stitched very well and was very quiet. Of course, it is far from a high end sewing machine but, if you need something basic, I would recommend this machine.
I recently ordered a Singer sewing machine from Montgomery Wards. It was the 8-stitch#1507,it is a nice basic machine for the beginner sewer, for basic sewing etc.,however there is a defect in the threading of the machine, the thread take-up lever does not go up all the way like it should so that the user has to manipulate the thread through the slotted eye, this should NOT be. this is a defect that Singer should rectify asap .Also, too many scuff marks on the machine, this should NOT be.
I am a beginner, but I have had constant problems with this machine. It says it should work straight out of the box with no adjustments, yet I have had it constantly jam, 2 broken needles, nesting, and I have to rethread constantly! I'm sure I am doing everything correctly because I take this machine with me to a class with a teacher who has sewn for 30 years and she has even tried to adjust my machine but it has constant problems! Cheap parts and cheap machine.
My daughter received this as a gift. It was advertised in a children's toy catalog. I figured it would be easy to use (since it's for kids), well I have had a Singer sewing machine for years and I love it. This model kept jamming and now the motor doesn't even work. I will be contacting the company to see if I can get if fixed, but I have my doubts.
i bought this sewing machine from kmart and it came straight from the manufacture and it had rust on the part the spool goes on and they said it was brand new also the compartment that the bobbin goes in was broke and missing a screw this was my 1st sewing machine too, i took it back and was going to get another one and looked at it and that one was rust too
