I agree 100% with what the other review stated. Not sure if this is a product of china now because smithfield use to be the best. I have stopped buying there products because something has changed...not in a good way.
The WORST pork hocks Iâve ever purchased, BY FAR. One pound of hocks were allowed to simmer with one pound (dried) pinto beans for about three hours. At that point, I typically remove the hocks, then separate the bones and muscle meat from the rest (skin, fat, ligaments, etc). I then return the meat and bones to cook a couple more hours. The PROBLEM in this case was that the pound of Smithfield Pork Hocks yielded less thans small fraction of an ounce of muscle meat. It was insignificant. Note: the meat had not already fallen from the bones inro the beans; there simply was no meat on those bones. Furthermore, they imparted little flavor. NEVER AGAIN!!!
