Foot deep western Massachusetts that had frozen and thawed numerous times and this snow blower cut right through it. The snow at the base was pretty icy but the blowers metal impellers continued unabated. Took two passes to get to the pavement but this snow blower worked beyond my wildest expectations. Just so u know for real heavy snow it shoots the snow way further when shooting it straight forward. Used this tool with a newly purchased 12/3 Rigid brand, 50', outdoor extreme cold certified extension cord. I specifically mentuon this because I didnt want to worry about an insufficient supply of power to the snow blower. Pleasantly surprised by this machine. I strongly ecommend.
This product has saved my back and is sooooo easy to use.
I purchased this only to make a few paths on the brick patio for our small dog when he went outside. It worked so well that I have all but retired my huge snowblower and just use this. It is also so portable, that I can throw it in the trunk and take it over to my 90 year old father's house and do his driveway. The cord is an issue at first, but after a few practice runs, it is easy to use. Just purchase a good quality cord that does not get stiff in the cold weather.
Handled 8" of snow no problem. It even out blow my neighbors' gas powered ones, distance wise. It does move wet snow but you just have to do it at slower pace which is the same with gas powered units. Dragging the cord does take some getting use to but no a big problem for me. I've done some research on this one and it pays off!
I have to do a disclaimer, the video and picture are of my older 621 model. I sold it to my nest door neighbor and the purchased the 623. We have not had any snow since it was delivered, but if it works like the lesser 621, I'll be thrilled. Easy to put together, easy to store and oh yeah, easy to use.
At first I had some doubts about the snow blower when I opened the box. It was smaller than I had envisioned it to be. We did have recent snowfall so this was a perfect opportunity to try it out. I plugged it in and started it up and I was off and running (no more pulling a cord to start). We had about 3 - 4 inch. of snow and the Snow Joe went through it without any trouble. The heavy snow at the bottom of the drive that the plow truck left behind was a little more work to get through, but I was still able to clear a path. The only issue was trying not to get tangled in the extension cord, but I think it's just a matter of getting used to being plugged in. Over all , I was very pleased with the snow Joe. If you need a reasonably priced snow blower to remove snow quickly and with little effort, definitely consider the Snow Joe. A big plus is no more maintenance, tune-ups or mixing gasoline.
I cleared a large driveway that had sat with 14 inches of snow for several days. Consequently, the snow on the bottom had turned to heavy slush. the Sno Joe cleared it without a problem and threw the heavy slush twenty feet off the driveway. It also cleared the icy build up from the snow plow at the end of the driveway. I did have to take smaller passes on the icy mound but it cleared it. My Honda 3.5 HP snow thrower that I replaced with the Sno Joe never was able to move slushy or icy snow. The chute jammed constantly if the snow was the least bit melted or solidified. the only reason I didn't give it a five star is because of the cord. it is a bit cumbersome but I believe as I use it more often i will become used to being attached to the cord.
I bought this because I was tired of lugging around my old gas-powered beast of a blower. It works just fine for my needs: A 20' 2-car driveway and small sidewalk area. It's a bit of a pain making sure the extension cord stays out of the way while I'm using it but that's to be expected with electric-powered tools. This snowblower works great for light, dry snow. It easily handles up to about 6" of dry snow but struggles with heavy wet snow that's more than a couple inches deep. It also will not handle hard, chunky, icy snow and the plow pile, but that's ok too. It does what I need it to do...clear the driveway quickly. As long as I don't let the snow pile up too high, it makes quick work of it. I was also surprised that it throws a good distance (about 10' or so), didn't expect that from this small blower. Bottom line: Don't buy this for heavy-duty snow removal. It's perfect for lighter snow in smaller areas and I am happy I bought it.
We needed a snow blower to clear our deck of snow by throwing the snow over the glass enclosed railing since we are in our 80s and can no longer do it by shovel. Our first test was with 10 inches of snow-the unit worked well and easily threw the snow off the deck over the railing. Happy now and hope the unit lasts since it will only be used for this purpose.
It's easy to set up and use straight from the box. If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed. It works great on fresh snow and really cleared my deck well but by the time I got to the driveway the snow was starting to get wet and heavy so it only threw it about three feet, straight onto the bit that I had just ploughed. I tried it on the pile that the city plough had left me at the end of the drive and was surprised that it moved it. If you use it as you would a lawnmower on long, wet grass it will cope quite well. It's a lot cheaper than a gas plough and obviously not as powerful but a lot easier than using a shovel
