The Best Deal on the Sony NEX3N I've found!

The Sony NEX3N, and the rest of the NEX series, are great cameras for the budding photographer. The camera is capable of expanding with your creativity and technical skill. The camera uses the Sony e-mount lens, allowing the user to buy new lens to suit their photographic needs. The camera is fairly easy to use, and if you are familiar with cameras it will be very intuitive. For novice users, I recommend that you read through the manual, and look around the internet for photography tips and explanations which will help you maximize your use of this camera. This camera is great for point as shoot, however it really shows it's value in using the various settings to make a great photo.

I've been running around camera circuit in search for a camera that I could call worth the money spent. I've purchased DSLR's like Nikon D7000, D90, Pentax K30. But the image quality of this little NEX3n if very much comparable with these slr's. Its very light weight and I liked the cool feature to bounce the flash on wall after pulling the flash spring to shift the angle. Though flash is not very bright but is ok for indoor usage and it works same way as a diff-user. Yes the LCD would not be handy in bright sunlight as its not possible to even look through to compose your shot. So I'll say that its best usage is indoor or in shades. The .jpeg rendering engine that generates the images from the camera does not do justice to the image quality you could produce by processing the RAW images i.e .ARW file format of sony. If you can use some image editing software's like Lightroom, Aperture, DXO then you would benefit better from them. Over all at the price range of $289 with lens, handy cam slim pouch and SD card its worth money spent. You may not get even point and shoot camera in this range. One more thing that is worth noticing is that the ISO noise in image is bit more than that of DSLRs but its manageable if you can post-process them

Amazing little camera! Picture quality is phenomenal and the battery lasts a long time. I had a point and shoot and this is a definite step up. Well worth every penny I spent on it.

I bought this camera for my wife. It compares favorably to my NEX-5N. It doesn't have a touch screen, but that's not a major shortcoming. Has a built in flash and comes with a 16-50mm power zoom lens for significantly less than a 5N without a lens. Doesn't have a viewfinder or the capability to add an electronic one as does the 5N. It uses E-mount lenses, so I can share lenses with my wife, or buy her a lens I want to use, as a gift :). It has numerous shooting modes, few that I use much more than to just to try them out. It does have a couple of my favorite features (turned off by default), focus-peaking, which shows in-focus edges outlined in red, white or blue (I prefer red as it provides better contrast with my typical scene colors than white or blue), and auto-focus with manual fine-focus, especially useful in cluttered scenes, such as through trees, where the camera might want to focus on what you're not wanting it to. If you don't touch the focus ring on the lens, the auto-focus works well on its own the majority of the time.

I am an experienced amateur photographer who researched this camera, wanting an APS-C interchangeable lens camera that was very small. Body is as small as m43 or point-and-shoot, lenses are interchangeable, kit lens is relatively compact for APS-C and has 24mm (35mm equivalent) wide end (not much on the telephoto end). Firmware lens correction controls for contrast and distortion are set to "On" as the default. Lens test website reviews indicate you should not turn these off as picture quality will deteriorate. The 'bundle' came with 8GB memory card, small camera case, straps, and very easy-to-follow instruction book. WalMart price was THIRTY-TWO percent below competitors' before Xmas.

This camera is very easy to use. The price was excellent (on sale for $339 with free shipping). Although the original description mentioned a 16 GB SD card it came with an 8GB card that all other vendors described for the bundle so I was not disappointed. It takes great indoor and outdoor photos with low light and close ups and portraits are especially nice compared to point and shoot cameras I previously used. It has many shooting modes I have not yet tested. Panorama sweep is very easy to use and the results are quite good. Ability to change lenses is a plus and a telephoto lens will be on my wish list.

Not exactly pocketable with the lens attached. But very compact camera with high image quality. Easy to use if you just leave it in intelligent auto mode and let it choose the exposure, focus etc.

We needed to upgrade our digital camera at work, but wanted pro features on a limited budget. Found this camera bundle which will allow us to use the Sony E-mount lenses from a NEX video camera we already have. We did some testing and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the stills and video. The camera allows you to manually control all the settings, so for the price it's quite powerful. The interface is easy to learn and the multi-angle screen is handy too. So far we are very please with the purchase.

First off, I take a lot of pictures. Second, I own a Nikon 5100 and have owned a Nikon J1. Third, I travel a lot. I returned the Nikon J1 after a trip to Europe... changing lenses is a pain when you're walking or riding transit systems. I leave the Nikon 5100 at home because it's too bulky to carry around. I purchased an inexpensive Canon Elph to get me by until I could get something else. Turns out the Elph is a brilliant travel camera... small and good enough for anything. I have some history with Sony cameras and have found them excellent, but the small point and shoots I've owned, I outgrew. So when I got a chance to get a Sony NEX3N, I jumped at the opportunity. So far, it has not disappointed. It's still a bit bigger than I care to lug around, but it will suffice as the picture quality (lack of blurs), makes up for the slight inconvenience. So, nothing technical in my rating... just don't want to take blurry, out-of-focus pictures. I also don't like waiting between pictures and I absolutely love to have sharp subjects and blurred backgrounds (i.e. depth of field shots). I'll be traveling more this year, so we'll see how I manage the bigger-than-pocket size of the camera. But look at the benefits I've listed, the trade-off should be worth it.
