I Love this PHONE!!

What an improvement over that old Samsung T139 prehistoric tin can! This phone is so easy to use and sounds so clear. It's a huge step up for me and one I should have taken a long time ago. I didn't want to spend mega bucks for a phone I won't use all the bells and whistles. This fits my life style to a T. I'm still learning all it has to offer, but I foresee a long and happy partnership with my Sony Xperia. The price was reasonable enough I can spend the extra bucks and get a Bose Headset for it. ;)

Only one small complaint

This is an excellent phone, the value is definitely there for the money that I spent. The only complaint that I have, and it's a small complaint, is that the volume during a call could be a little louder. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

I have been a straight talk user for years, and it was time to update my phone. Unfortunately I was not thrilled with straight talks lineup and the LG optimus ultimate looked to be the only mid range phone for a good value. After searching around I came across the unlocked phone section of Wal-Mart's site and found this phone. Looking at the specs (gsm and working on the 850 and 1900kHz frequency range) I checked them against the straight talk bring your own phone program to make sure it was compatible. I bought a straight talk micro SIM from straight talk and the phone and have been using it for about 2 week's now. Really, I just love this phone. My old one was a galaxy proclaim cdma phone from straight talk. That was a great phone but I wanted something larger, faster, and more powerful. This Sony definitely blows it away. With the old phone I was speed testing at 1mbps download and 512kbps upload. On the Sony I am at 8mbps download and 1mbps upload (using the at&t straight talk micro SIM card). The display is much larger, it has a dual core 1.7ghz processor, and every feature I want. This is an awesome phone. Setting it up to receive mms (multimedia texts) took a little research on the web.....just follow the directions on straight talks website to set up their access point name (apn) and then once done delete the at&t apn. You still may have to wait 24-48 hours after the phone is activated before you are able to receive mms messages ( you have to go through this process with any non straight talk phone you bring to use on their bring your own phone program....and it is pretty easy to do). I would definitely make this purchase again.

I've had my phone for less than a month but so far it's been great. However, I did buy the phone to use with STRAIGHT TALK and it has taken hours to find the correct ANS #'s to get it to send and receive MMS. That's not a problem with the Xperia, just with the configuration to use a service other than AT&T. The phone is lightweight, pretty in white, and has gorgeous displays both onscreen and the customizable light bar. Coming from the iPhone it has been a difficult transition because I haven't used a Droid in many years, but I'm getting the hang of it. Texting is easier and the spell check is actually helpful and doesn't change my words into goofy nonsensical sentences like iPhone does. The TALK TO TEXT is BETTER than the iPhone which surprised me. Battery life is also very good, and better than the iPhone. One problem I have is the volume is very low even at the highest setting, especially for phone calls and it makes it difficult to hear if there is any surrounding noise. I haven't used earphones with it as I Bluetooth to my Oonz for music and radio. I haven't done a whole lot with the phone yet, but watching video is great, I enjoy the added screen size over the iPhone as well. I haven't taken pictures either so that is another thing I cannot speak on. So far, overall I am very happy with my Xperia SP and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I previously had a Samsung Galaxy S3 and accidently broken the screen. I chose The Sony Xperia due its price, Sony quality, and similar features with the S3. I've had the phone for almost two weeks and couldn't be happier. It blows away my old S3, and some friends that have Galaxy S4's are jealous. The only problem I've had was changing the apn settings to my straightalk plan. It only took me about 20 minutes to do that. On some of the other reviews I seen they had problems with hearing phone calls. I have not had any sound problems what so ever. Great Phone!

Purchased this phone for my high school son. I do not want him on an expensive monthly\data plan which most carriers require you to have with an Android smart phone. I learned this summer that AT&T (also Red Pocket) now will let you have a GoPhone Pay As You Go per Minute plan on a Android smart phone. They do require you to provide them with a GSM Unlocked or AT&T compatible phone. Considered over 20 phones this summer but none have as good of specs and ratings as this one in the $300 range. At the end a little bit more than I wanted to spend but any smart phone priced much less will not have a true HD screen. I took it over to the local AT&T store, they put in a GoPhone micro SIMM card, I paid $25 for 90 days for 10cents\minute 20cnets\ text just to see how everything test out which so far has been excellent. So, now my son has affordable Android smart phone. This is going to save me hundreds of dollars a year. Plus his iPod Touch is on eBay to defer alot of the cost of the phone. The phone itself is very nice. Beautiful screen, fast processor, not too big, really nice construction comparable to the iPhone. Apps run very smoothly, I ripped one of my Blu-Ray movies to MP4 and use the Play app and looked awesome with no lag or pixel issues. Sound is very good, UI is very smooth and quick. Only 8Gb but has SD card slot (up to 32Gb) so I put in an extra 8Gb card I had. This phone has WIFI so no Data Plan is needed if you are around hotspots all day like my son. I disabled the Mobile Data function on the phone just to make sure my son does not inadvertently use it. Camera is okay but not a feature that was important to us. My phone plan is up in a few months so I might pick this up for myself in the upcoming Google Nexus 5 does not suit my needs. If you want an idea of what this phone looks like, take a look at the larger Sony Xperia Z at your local stores. Identical construction but for $500 plus that phone adds bigger screen, quad core CPU, better GPU, more internal memory, and some other minor features.

I have never actually loved a phone before but this one has solved almost any problems I've ever had with one. The one downside I have personally found is the front facing camera is grainy but the back camera takes high quality pictures.

slow processor

The phone often freezes, it is to slow compare to other cheaper smart phones, 20% left in the battery then the phone dies instantly, has a blurry screen, the phone getting hot when using Wi-Fi. and cannot return after 15 days.
