Great item. Have had it for almost 3 months and haven't had any problems with it. Easy enough for 1 to 2 people to assemble with included tools and possibly an electric drill. (makes it easier.) Very durable as long as it's put together well initially. Nice drawer at the foot of the bed that guests can't even tell is there. Well made all around. I will say though, when picking it up from the store the box is SUPER heavy. I live in an apartment building on the second floor and we had to open the box and take the pieces up one by one.
I bought this for my 13yr old son.. He loves it and I was able to put it together myself. We are very happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone.
Looks very nice but it is heavy. It is great if you never plan on rearranging your bedroom ever again. it is defiantly hard to move even for my husband. We have to take the mattress and the box-spring off, but even still it is hard to move There is nothing holding the bed on the platform so it moved around easily. The drawer is a good size and glides nicely. A little hard to put together. Lots and lots of steps but we managed. Took us about 2 or 3 hours.
I like the look of the bed. Instructions were easy enough to follow. Some of the panels had slight damage on the ends. The bed was meant to have the head against a wall, so only one side of that head panel had the finish. I have to put the bed so a side is against the wall, so the unfinished particle board will be showing. The platform will be oversized for a full mattress but should fit perfectly for a queen size.
Unfortunately, my product arrived damaged. Reading past reviews it appears I am not the only one. Otherwise, it is a nice bed for the price.
If I could give it a negative number I would. Don't buy this garbage that makes IKEA look like high end. Upon opening the box over HALF of the pieces are snapped in half and crumbling apart. The faux wood finish over the particle board is so bad that a light scratch of your fingernail takes it off. Now I have to borrow a truck to haul it back to Walmart to get my money back and my daughter gets to sleep on the floor.
The bed is HEAVY it is very nice looking! However it took forever to put together! We followed each step by step and there were places where the pre-drilled holes did not MATCH or Line up! Screws ended up going through the side of the bed and really messing it up. I highly suggest NEVER calling Southshore the actual company! We called them first and I could barely understand the lady and she INSISTED that We put the bed together wrong we put the "HARDWARE" (screws) in the wrong places and that was the reason why the platforms did NOT line up! REALLY I highly think that putting the wrong type screw in the base of the bed is what caused the platform top to not correctly line up and could only fit 16 screw in the top instead of the the 28 which were suppose to be there! Well thank goodness we called Wal-mart and they are sending a NEW bed and someone to come get the old one! It's nice but if you don't have the time or the help do not order this bed!

I just spent my evening putting together this platform and it simply does not line up! Cheap wood and some of the places for screws do not have any pre drilled holes or any sort of a guide. Save yourself the trouble and do not buy this model.
Product is cheaply made. Missing pieces. Instructions are complete garbage. Had pieces already damaged. All particleboard, which makes you have only one shot at getting a screw to hold. I am very frugile when it comes to furniture but this isn't worth it. Even if it was $100 instead of $250 i wouldn't recommend. It's a shame, because the design is beautiful, just made way too cheaply. I can see why it got damaged in shipping. It is junk.
