About 5 years ago; I inherited a Panasonic dehumidifier from my parents. We loved it because it was so much quieter than our old dehumidifier -- it was, indeed, quiet. When the Panasonic went; I searched the internet and ordered the Sunpentown based on feedback found on the internet Guess what -- it is the exact same product as the Panasonic we loved! It had an improvement that pleased the engineer in me -- the connection to the drain hose is much improved. On the down side; the fan may be just slightly louder than the prior Panasonic as a result of their changing the type of plastic used to make the fan. Bottom line; thought -- buy it; you can't go wrong! By the way -- this dehumidifier was not stocked at the local Wallmart so I had to wait for it to be delivered. It arrived much faster than I expected. The packaging was very good -- Walmart packed the vendor's box in a second box to avoid shipping damage, which impressed the customer in me. I would highly recommend that Wallmart start stocking these in its stores because I think they would sell well.
does what I expected, it works so wonderfully, the only thing I don't like is that you can't shut it in a room because it puts out ALOT of hot air.
When we got ours the basement was damp. We plugged it in, set the humidity level and let it do its thing. Within hours the basement was more comfortable and smelled better. We have it drain to the sump pump well so we don't need to check on it. It's been going well for two weeks. My last dehumidifier was around a the 40 pint size. This one is actually quieter than the first but this one does put off a lot more heat. I'm guessing that is because it is larger. I would keep that in mind if buying one for a smaller basement.
Have a little difficulty in adjusting the right temp. but otherwise this unit performs perfectly. Would definitely recommend it.
Somewhat disappointed not as quiet as expected but is working well at removing humidity in a basement.
I've never had a dehumidifier before so there isn't much to base it from. The fan is noticeable but not loud. It would be hard to have this unit running next to you and try to watch TV. We use it in our basement to keep reduce the musty smell. In only a few days it was very noticable the reduction moisture. The hose in nice becasue you can have the unit drain right into the drain and let in run continuously.
Have had three of these same units in the past. When they are working the are excellent;however, I haven't had any of them last past a year which is why I purchased the extended warranty.
This product works great! in two days it got my damp apartment dry and feeling normal. It is a bit noisy and does put off heat, but I'll take that over a damp feeling couch. I also have to empty out the bucket at least two times a day, so I think I'm going to get a hose so it can run continuously. It's super easy to use, and move from room to room with little to no effort. I did a lot of research before I got this one and I am happy with my choice.
The holding tank fills up in about 8 hours on a dry day and 5 hours on a rainy day w/ the humidity level set at 65 percent. The tank is awkward to empty but it does have a handle. Save yourself the hassle and buy some plastic tubing to feed directly into a basement drain if you have one. The unit is fairly quite, after awhile it is just background noise. The important thing is unit keeps my basement dry, dry enough to store paper goods on the basement shelves. No more mold!
I have had two of them now. Both work in the same manner. Runs for an hour and switches to "P1" mode. Manual says this is defrost time for the condenser. Then switches back to working whenever after that. I bought one and had problems so I called customer service three times during the week with no response from them. So I bought another and returned it saying it wasn't working right. New one does the same thing. Does it work? Yes, but it should work better for $200.00. The only way I can keep it working is on turbo mode which is a little noisy. I would get something else ith your money.
