So, first, as you can see from my star rating, I think these are absolutely gorgeous. I have most of the shades but not all. The suede or matte side is a thin liquid yet remains opaque upon swatching. It may take some practice to blend them out the way you want them, but if you are patient, I think you will find that they really do blend beautifully. As far as the glitter side, there are a couple of colors that seem more like toppers to me, in that, it takes a little while to build them up if you wanted the glitter to be mite opaque. The light blue, the mint and the yellow shades are the ones I find that to be the case, but they are beautiful and they can be built up if, again, patience. Hot tamale, Grey Fox and Smitten Kitten the glitters could be used as their own opaque shadow in one maybe two swipes, I love them so much. As far as the packaging, I didn't know how much I would appreciate that the two sides are stick together by magnet. Makes them so much easier to use when you can pull them apart. The magnet is a good strength as well, so you can pick on up and not have to deal with the other side falling off. If you wanted it to fall off you could make that happen but it's still a decent magnet. These are beautiful and fun to have on display and I will get a lot of use out of them. Oh! Also, if you have any of the original Stila glitters, just know that these are not two of the full size stuck together, these are a bit smaller, but I actually appreciate the size and how not bulky they are. I hope this review helps, I know I'm late to the game on these, but I'm so happy to have them now, I would absolutely repurchase.
Unlike the review left by a previous poster these are not 2 travel size. They both are the exact same size as other eye shadows I have purchased from Stila. I love the magnet top and that they are not permanently attached to each other. The colors are beautiful. I do agree that some of the shades (both the opaque and the glitter) may require multiple coats to achieve the exact finish you are looking for. The colors last all day and I couldn't be happier. I am by far not the most skilled at applying makeup but I can always create a cute look with these products. I have the beachwave, smitten kitten and grey fox.
Beautiful shade! The size of each color is a little smaller than the standard single, but I love having the matte and the glitter! They work perfectly together and I love having matched shades for an easy look. So glad they were available in both my favorite colors!
I've bought 2 Blue Jean double dip and both times the glitter part is extremely dry, like it's very hard to get any in the applicator. I actually broke the first wand trying to scrape the wand around. I love love love the color though, it's beautiful.
I love the colour and size of these. They're also magnetic, which I didn't know when I bought them but was pleasantly surprised! The black shade is an almost perfect formula, it does wear off in the crease though.. a shame. The glitter one needs more pigment to it, if you're to use it on its own, but over the black one it works great! Just wish it didn't basically rub off in the crease.. otherwise, goes on smooth and easy though.
I bought the white and black. The colors look good separate but don't really go together like how the model in the pictures looks. I like to use the matte black with a brush just for eyeliner. The black sparkles have a hint of black and looks a little incongruent as the black tint seems to settle. The matte white is very thin and need multiple coats to get the white portrayed in the photos. The sparkly white is great over other colors.
I bought one of these a few months ago, but hadn't had the chance to use it. I finally did the other day use the glitter one-first, there was so little product on the wand. Second, when I dipped it back in to try again, the little foam piece broke off in the bottle!! NOW what do I do?? I can't use it unless I use the suede wand. Overall very disappointing. I've bought Glitter and Glow for years and never had a problem, but Stila has discontinued many of my favorite colors in that line. Very upsetting. I don't have the money to buy the same color all over again!
The 2nd half of this duo (glitter) was completely empty as if it had evaporated and the 1st bottle (shade) has an applicator with sponge tip that looks to be about ready to fall apart after only 4 gentle uses, beautiful color but very disappointing purchase
I tried to use this for a look I was going for. It didn't work out. I used eye primer before applying. The formula was difficult to work with. It dried down quick and it was very hard to spread around my lid. It also creased, the color cracked, and it looked very caky by the time I was done applying. Normally I love the Stila liquid eyeshadows and have never had a problem with other products. This is the only product from Stila that did not work for me. I am bummed because I love the color. This is a review of the shade blue jean.
I expected better since the other Stila liquid eyeshadows are so amazing...but this was terrible. The glitter part was just water with a few specks of glitter. Even when using the solid black as a base there really wasn't much glitter payoff at all. To be honest I feel like I wasted my money
