I bought this as just a cheap phone for the house. It is for when my kid gets home to call me to let me know he made it home okay. As well as a backup emergency phone if my expensive smart phone fails. It is doing exactly what I bought it for and works perfect for it.
This phone is a replacement for the Safelink phone I got years ago. This one is a bit sturdier but has all the features I wanted.
Good phone if you don't want a camera .
I bought a Verizon Samsung Gusto 3 with Verizon and the reception was bad, bad I had to walk to the window and hang my head out because the reception kept cutting out and then they wanted $171 for a cancellation fee, unbelievable! I got this phone and it's a relief that I can talk anywhere without it cutting out. It has been a little choppy but it's better than Verizon for sure!
This was purchased as a back-up phone for a Straight Talk plan. The good news is that we were able to activate it on an existing Straight Talk plan. The bad news is that the texting function barely works. The phone function is fine, but everybody texts so that is the main usage. Outbound texting is okay, but the phone does not receive texts. Also, it's pretty much 1990s technology and the unit is very light and feels fragile compared to smart phones.
