After initial setup, could not get it to function properly. Started up fine, connected to devices fine, but had no internet connection for no apparent reason. After troubleshooting and triple checking everything, I reboxed it with intent to return it to WalMart. The next morning I took it back out of the box, set everything back up, and called Straight Talk to see if theyd offer any help. Before my call connected, I noticed the green network light on the hotspot was now flashing green(before it was solid green) and I now had internet access with all connected devices. Before reboxing it the night before, I took the battery back out and took the sim card out, then pushed it back in. I'm not sure exactly what action finally connected the network, but it is now up and running with full high speed internet. Also worth mentioning that I only purchased this item to hold me over til DigitalPath can make it out to install real high speed internet at an affordable price. The Straight Talk Hotspot is ok for people who use a very minimal amount of data, but I'm not one of those people. $75 for 7 GB + $50 for Hotspot is more expensive than the 200 GB /m from DitgitalPath, which is only a one year contract. This current no contract stuff just simply is not a viable option for long period use, and I don't know anyone who plans to stop using the internet in a year, there are reasonable contracts out there
Took on vacation to be able to get college course work done when needed. Worked only one day and down like everyone else has specified here. Unbelievable! Needless to say, I am very Grrrrrr, rite now.
This device is obviously flawed in many different ways.... I put $500 dollars in data cards into it in a little less then two weeks and hardly got any benefit from it. Constant phone calls to techs at ST and very little resolve. They should be held accountable for such a defective product.
Won't work so I'm out over $100 with the cost of the WiFi device and 40G card. Straight Talk customer is the biggest joke ever. I hate Straight Talk products and service. Will never buy again.
Bought this so my kids could use the internet while I'm at work. Like everyone else worked for a day and no longer will connect to anything. Tried to reset and still got the same problem. Very Upsetting and now 100 bucks down the drain
Watched 1 movie for an hr cost me 75 dollars not happy come with unlimited cards or don't buy these wifi units they use to sell unlimited idk what Happened to that very poor
my son bought this yesterday it connected to the internet but today it wont. I know he did not go through 5gb all in one day. have been trying everything t connect it plenty of google searches and s forth
This product worked great for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden i couldn't get it to work at all. I've been online looking for answers and live chatted with a ST rep, but all he did was tell me to take the Sim card out and make sure it's put in corectly. I have the app from the play store that don't help and won't load and the regular Internet won't even load the page I need to 'try' to deregister. At this time, I'm at a total loss as what to do. It shouldn't be this hard. :(
I purchased the Z29DL approx. two weeks ago from a local Walmart store. From a technology standpoint there are no complaints. I am not a heavy internet user (email, bill paying and news review). The no contract arrangement is ideal for me thus the reason for the purchase. CONS: The unit burns through data at a very high rate ( 1GB used in less than 24 hours) unless you have very deep pockets to feed this data monster please refrain from this purchase because it will cost you more than what should be a reasonable data rate plan. My comments are all verifiable.
Bought the device took it home activated it worked well for awhile. I watched one movie on Netflix, half way through stopped. Called customer service and was told I used up all bandwidth. Will return device and lost the $25.00 I spent on the service card.
