I got this Sun Joe because it had a metal blade, and it was reasonably priced. I was not sure getting one of these mulchers was going to work and wanted to spend as little as possible. I have two oak trees and leaves are everywhere, but my main reason for wanting one of these was to help me pick up the peanut shells from feeding the squirrels. And there are a ton of peanut shells out there. Grind them up so I didn't have to bag them. Well, this machine will do that perfectly. It is a bit heavy for me, but not enough to not use it. The mulch it creates with oak leaves and peanut shells is a nice light-colored mulch that I am putting in my flower beds and planted pots. It will do small sticks, but I did find that I had to go through my piles and pull out all the sticks and debris that fell off the trees. I am so happy about the peanut shells I don't care about that. My only bag contained bigger sticks and it was a tall kitchen bag, the rest is in the flower bed. I looked at these mulchers online for weeks trying to find one that said it would do peanut shells and didn't see one. This one will and I am delighted with it. It's still hard work to do the yard. I am a 71-year-old female, and this mulcher is a pleasure to use. I LOVE it.
Just received and tried it out. Powerful vacuum and did excellent job on mulching leaves. Blower was very good
great very durable has a metal blade great for grinding leaves etc
i was very surprised at this little vacuum blower. It did a great job removing the leaves from my garden and didnt remove very much of the mulch underneath. Even got a few sweet gum balls that i missed on a prior pickup and ate right through them. After 1 day of using the bagger i decided to try just blowing the discharge right back in the garen. i liked it better that way and no bag to worry with. Some of the leaves were damp underneath and it never phased it. The blower is almost to much.
Worked great when used for first time today. Easy to switch between blower to vacumn. 2 minor items prevent me from giving it 5 stars: (1) Low weight until you come close to filling the bag with mulched leaves. Very glad vacumn attachment has wheels to ease mulched leaves weight. (2) Tight fit for putting 2 pieces of vacumn together.
The product looks very nice, easy to assembly. It is heavy and the motor runs loud and feel strong. I bought it mainly for vacuum and munching. There are quite a few things that makes me disappointed > Vacuum: 1-needs to practice, the nozzle has to be at some distance and at the right angle (maybe that is why the wheels for). Manage to handle this issue but still a little annoying. 2-If the leaves are big (avocado leave), or if they have been suck in the sudden way it will stuck at the nozzle and I have to use hand to push it thru. >Mulching: The leaves has to be dry, If it is little green or wet (like early in the morning) the machine cannot handle it. Likely I have to do twice to get the job done. I gave it a 3 because of the features and the design but function wise is kind of disappointed .
First, I know this is an inexpensive tool, and my expectations were tempered (but hopeful). I have a snojoe snowblower, and it's been a great tool for limited light residential use (clear a 50 foot driveway a couple times per year). The Sun Joe blower/vacuum combo was purchased primarily for the vacuum function. It's all plastic, but designed well, and pretty sturdy. I tested some leaves that accumulated along the fence over the winter, and it did a decent job if they were dry and not big (picked up the maple fine, struggled with the oak). Once they went up the chute, it did shred them well. I also have a sycamore that drops prickle balls, and that's why I bought this. I hate raking them up, and inevitably I step on a bunch as I rake, and they get pushed in my kids step on them in their bare feet when playing in the backyard. Long story short, this item won't pick up prickle balls very well. If you maneuver the chute just right, it'll pick up 1 or 2 at a time, but I used it for 30 minutes and cleared maybe 25 square feet (5x5) on the outer edge of the tree line where's very few. I still like sun/snow joe, and it's not a bad product, just doesn't meet my needs. I'll need to go to gaspower if I want to ditch the rake; that 13 amp or whatever size motor it is just isn't enough, and I don't think any electric or battery tool would work, regardless of brand. And for anyone that uses electric power tools, remember to have the properly sized extension cord. For 100 ft cord, this requires a 12 gauge (rated for 15 amps, which I have). 14 gauge won't cut it. 3 stars is my rating; 1 star for meeting my needs. 3 star for item design and quality, and 5 star for Walmart return policy.
Not performing as expected, very noisy and heavy
DO NOT BUY THIS. I used it two times-the second time I used it the air vent sucked my shirt up in it. I had to cut me shirt off with scissors. No it won't work. I called sun Joe and it's not covered by warranty. They say I'm at fault because I wore loose fitting clothes. HOW RIDICULOUS. I guess I'm Supposed to go topless when I use it. WILL NEVER BUY ONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS
Bought Sunjoe leaf/mulcher last year, used it 3 times. Plugged it in last week to started sucking up leaves then I started to smell something burning. This crap product was smoking and then the motor stopped working!! Save your money!! Total GARBAGE.
