The unit performed really well, and this project required 2+ hours at a stretch to get the job done. I chipped mainly Crape Myrtle trimmings and you can see by the photos the chips/mulch came out pretty well. I ran the chunkier bits back through which reduced them further. Before I began I wanted to see how the mechanism functioned, to give me a sense of limitations (photo included for that purpose). Rather than use the small collection bag, I sat the unit in an industrial sand bag so I could keep chipping. I did use ear and eye protection, as well as gloves. Best lengths will be 10-18". One batch I had cut too small. This batch was not destined for this chipper and had difficulty getting into the teeth, this needed coaxing but did get chipped. At the end of the job I opened the unit again and noticed lots of fine material had collected inside the housing. I vacuumed, and used a blower to clean it. I also scrubbed the blade to remove residue build up. Great product, performed better than expected.
I am using that to turn branches into mulch for strawberries. I am amazed at the large size of branches it will turn into mulch. Not good for leaves or small twigs, but for my purposes it is very good. It appears to have cup holders on the back. Wrong place for drinks. The drinks will end up with twigs and things in them. If you get one, there is a rocker button with forward and reverse. There is a third position for the button in the middle. The motor will not turn on if the button is in the middle position. If the machine will not turn on, make sure the button is firmly pushed in the forward position.
We used it over the weekend, 3-4h without problems, the machine will take a short break whenever the bag got full. We chipped 2 huge piles of branches trimmed from 3 trees down to almost nothing! Once you get the hang of it, the pace and capacity, it goes relatively quickly as the machine self-feed. Rated 92dB, while not exactly quiet, it's not that bad with some earplugs. Just make sure the chute below doesn't get cloged up by keeping an eye on pile below. Seems to be well built with safety push to start/stop forward/stop/reverse controls.
Works good so far. It's geared lower and turns a bit slower but has the power to chop 1" branches fairly easily. Has a feature to sharpen the blades that works easily. Also fairly quiet. Much better than the smaller sun joe mulcher we had. This one seems like it should last a while. Very handy
We used the chipper to reduce the volume of waste while removing a large Palo Verde tree from the backyard. It easily chewed up branches up to 3/4" in diameter. Instead of making 5-6 trips to the landfill hauling thorny branches, we loaded up our city green waste container a few times. It was a great value.
good product and does a good job as what it promoted. I have used other wood chipper but I am very happy with this CJ603E. By adjusting the blade adjustment knob to chip 1.75 inch dia. stem will go through no problem. It is a good buy. I recommend this wood chipper.
Good trimmer for lite tree trimming. Could be better balanced, all the weight is in the head which makes for difficult trimming up high. Trimmer is easy to assemble and the instruction are well written. Make sure to get extra bar oil it uses it fast. I have cut limbs up to 4 inches without any problems. I would buy this trimmer again.
Product is easy to use and devours branches up to 3/4" thick with ease. It works a bit to chop up larger branches and struggles a bit to chop up 1" to 1 1/2" thick branches. As far as the 1.7 inch thick branches, forget it. The overload kicked in and the machine shut down. The 8" long remaining piece of branch was jammed in the machine. Use of the reverse feature quickly dislodged it. Also it can't be fed too fast or the discharge chute clogs up so work slow and methodically. In spite of its deficiencies it's a great little machine for the average homeowner. I chopped up a pickup truck load of branches in no time, but I still have quite a pile of branches thicker than 1.7 inch diameter that I need to dispose of. I use the word chop because the machine really doesn't chip the wood it chops the wood into nugget-like pieces, but I'm o.k. with that.
The package arrived quickly and safely. The seller did a great job. Sunjoe, however, let me down. One of the bolts that holds the legs on was rusty and wouldn't screw on so I called the company and was told they don't have any to send me and that I have to go get one myself from the store at my expense. That's kinda stinky! Sunjoe/Snowjoe you can do better!
I received my delivery on time. Opened the box, started to assemble the sun joe CJ603E. The first thing I discovered is the product was boxed with two left legs, no right leg. I called the Sun Joe help desk and explained the problem. Even sent them a picture of the problem, (picture included below). The help desk tech said that it looked correct to him. He said “just spread the legs apart an install the axle”. I said “you've got to be kidding me, you can't be that stupid and be working on the help desk”. I said “just send me a new pair of legs and that will resolve the problem”. He said “we don't have parts like that here to send out. Just take it back to Walmart and exchange it”. In other words the Sun Joe help desk was useless. This product cost both me and Walmart time and money. By the way, I didn't exchange it. I just got my money back. I don't want to try to ever do business with this company again.
