I bought this iron not having read the reviews on it first, & I'm glad I did because I probably wouldn't have bought it had I done so. I love this iron!! It's nice looking, all the features are great, especially the vertical steam feature, & the cord winds up fine. I use this every single morning & have no complaints at all! It even glides like a charm. That's why after reading the reviews I was a little surprised. I will be keeping mine, no doubt.
I have had this product a while -- before this one I had another Sunbeam steam master -- I quilt and sew and use my iron everyday --the only reason I have had to be news ones is that my daughters and granddaughters are taking mine from me because they love it as much as I do --- I am buying the newest one available this weekend -- I would never have any other brand --- as for the tipping over I read in another review -- yes it has tipped over a time or two but so does others -- I have an iron stand on the end of my ironing board that takes care of that issue and all the great points of this product out weigh that one small issue --
I bought this iron mainly for the retractable cord feature. This did not work as expected. When you press the button, the cord will retract a little and then you have to push the cord in a little more and try the button again. even after some coaxing the cord still does not go in all the way. I am taking this one back. I can buy a cheaper iron if I am not going to get the retractable cord feature I wanted. Everything else was fine. So it gets three stars.
I bought this iron for the steam feature and was annoyed to find out that the vertical steam that was mentioned, is only select models, and this isnt the select model. The steam output it pretty lousy. The retractable cord is AWEFUL! It worked ONCE and now half the cord has to be wrapped around the iron. We only used it to iron once but it wasnt at all what we expected. I do like the storage indicator, red when hot, black when OK to put away. I think I'm going to return this for something else.
This iron has good features for the cost, but it also has one big problem. It sticks to clothes. Though it is featured with a non-stick sole, I found that it really drags across fabrics. I used it on several types of fabrics, cottons and blends. On light weight items like dress shirts it sticks so much the material bunches up! You really have to push the iron around - it doesn't glide at all. I don't recommend it, and I'm returning mine to the store..
DO NOT BUY THIS IRON !!!!!!! It leaks unless it set on the highest setting and when you contact Sunbeam all they do is play endless e mail tag. Spend the money on a better product because you will only end up throwing this one in the trash.
This product is horrible. I am a professional adult who irons her clothing daily. I purchased this iron due to its advertised features. First off the iron leaks on any steam setting. This I was willing to overlook, but after it stopped getting hot enough to iron even my delicate fabrics I had to write a review and try to save someone else from wasting their time and money. This iron stopped working after only two months of use. Unacceptable.
The features of this product seem outstanding: retractable cord, automatic shutoff, heat sensor, and auto clean. As such, this iron would be an outstanding value for its price. However, it has a major design flaw: its center of gravity is off and, as a result, it constantly fall from the ironing board. Because of its poor design, any sllght movement of the ironing board will lose the balance of the iron. A slight jiggle of the belly against the ironing board sends the iron onto the floor--and no, my belly doesn't stick out enough to be an obstruction during ironing. The iron fell so many times within the first month of use that it was easier and less dangerous keeping the iron horizontal than upright when rearranging clothes between strokes--a silicon iron pad came in real handy during this time. I have already replaced this iron with another one of another brand because this iron was a complete waste of time and money.
I should have been grateful as this was a present, but the iron is terrible. The retractable cord feature only worked a time or two and then I had to constantly hold the button down and coax the cord to rewind. The steam feature was not effective and it increased my ironing time per garmet exponentially. I did not have trouble with it falling over, but it has this non-stick surface on the bottom, and at the top of the soleplate, on the first use it developed some sort of gunk accumulation. I literally ruined two shirts and I could never get it cleaned off, no matter what I tried. I took it back and swapped for another iron. Hopefully, the new iron will be satisfactory. This one definitely was unsatisfactory.
I bought this iron two months ago. I was happy with this iron in the first month. Then, when I tried to use it two days ago, the bottom of the plate either melt or fell out so the iron ruined my two nice white shirts with black spots. I never thought that an iron could be that bad. Please avoid this iron.
