This is a terrific product. I have used it for years, always purchasing from Sam's Club. Originally, my doctor recommended that I take it as a substitute for Lipitor. It is a statin. I hear that the Chinese have used it for centuries. ... I trust Sam's Club to sell the product at the values shown on the label.

I have been taking this for several years and have had very good results. As long as I take 2 a day my cholesterol has been good/normal range. But if you eat junk food/ fried greasy foods all day every day I doubt it will work as well for you.
I use red yeast rice to help lower cholesterol levels. Switched to Simply Right from another brand because it was cheaper. When I had my yearly blood test my levels were much higher than than had been with the previous brand. My doctor suggested I switch back and test again. After switching back to the original brand I had been using, my levels were back down (three months later). Do not expect all red yeast rice supplements to be identical in effectiveness for helping with cholesterol levels.
Actually, this particular product doesn't claim to lower cholesterol and I'll bet other brands don't either. That's because a few years ago the FDA forced manufacturer's to remove any of the cholesterol fighting chemical (lovastatin/monacolin) that had been added to the product during the manufacturing process, leaving only the minimal trace amounts of the chemical that is naturally found in Red Yeast Rice. You would have to take 10 to 20 Red Yeast Rice capsules per day to even come close to the minimum recommended dose of 10 mg of lovastatin.
the wedding cake i ordered was nothing like the picture advertised and it looked like a 6 year old decorated, very disappointing....
