Our son has one and uses it for brush control. His is 4 years old and is still going strong. We have 5 acres fenced in. This is a back saver.
Great machine works as advertised
The trimmer works good although heavy to handle. The packaging / handling was poor. The box was ripped up and one wheel axle was bent.
The trimmer cuts through most weeds. Engine runs fine. My complaint is how the wheels are mounted to the frame. When I pulled the trimmer out of the box one wheel was bent and rubbing on the push bar. I had to take the wheel of and add a spacer so the wheel would not rub on the bar. The wheels are basically mounted with a bolt (which acts as the axle) on the side of the trimmer.
The Swisher is great, but I sure wish I could find the right diameter lines for it in the stores. They do not have the filters for it either. The Swisher is great for mowing grass and weeds that a push mower cannot handle...and it string trims too!!
Showed up on time, had a hard time with the lock nuts that hold the handle in position. First they were put on in packing with an impact wrench. I stripped one nut and had to replace it before I even got it into working position. Once handle was in working position, it would not stay in place in the highest position. I went out and bought extra bolts and nuts to block the adjustment slot to keep the handle in the high position. Starts right up when cold or just after shut down, but if you let it cool too long it is hard to start. I had to wait 15 minutes for full cool down before it would start again. Product seems solid and durable. No noticeable wear after 6 hours of work on a forest glade. Only had to replace strings if I ran into something solid, cuts right through any normal vegetation.
I wish that I knew about bottom spool for string ties. Dont work ir stay own to cit grass
Purchased this trimmer last Winter so I would have it to use on a small corral on the ranch when the Spring weeds came up. This trimmer works well on grass and wild oats, but when it comes to weeds 1/8" or larger in the stem it bogs down and will die if you don't pull it back quickly. Useless for my needs, so I guess I'll give it to my neighbor for a lawn ornament. I had high hopes for this piece of equipment, but it let me down big time.
