This little thing is awesome. I saw some of the reviews and I was surprised because mine works great. For $31.00 in the stores it is a great deal for any age. I highly recommend it!!!

This recorder worked perfect right out of the box.I totally disagree about sound quality,it is good for this type of recorder. The fact it has usb connectivity is a plus. The software was easy to use and after I downloaded the free Audacity software it was easy to import the file and edit it.I have now had this for about three months and it still works great.I got it on sale for $22 and that made it even better.I only wish it had more memory.Compared to the others out there like the Sony with no USB support for half the price.

It's good, but...

The operating instructions for such a complicated piece of electronic equipment were atrocious. Coming from the old voice recorder with tape casettes, this was horrible. I still don't understand the folder system and how it works...or how to use them effectively.

RCA Voice Recorder

I was looking for an Olympus, but they were sold out, so I bought the RCA RP5022B instead. As it turned out, just because it was cheap didn't imply quality. It is a great little recorder for interviewes in my IT job at the California Dept. Corrections & Rehab. Good quality and downloadable recordings to my computer for future reference and not a lot of money up front and in maintenance. The software was easy to download and install.

Total Waste of Money

I completely agree with the other two negative reviews. I too had the "looping" playback problem and lost important speeches I was recording. The software capability for file conversions is weak. If you want to make mp3s, audio cds, .wmas, you'll have to purchase additional software. I've been using the product weekly for about 5 months, and it works correctly about 1/2 the time. I have to completely reformat the device everytime it gets "corrupted." This product is so bad, it made me angry at Wal-Mart's website because I can't figure out a way to give the product zero stars. The webpage forces you to give a minimum of one star. I further recommend against all RCA brand electronics, as every one (no exaggeration) that I've purchased has been problematic for me.

Framesize is negative value...

I bought this mini recorder back in December 2007 intending to use it at my work as proof of harasment. Well, in the begining, it worked very nicely. But about mid-January when trying to play the files on the Digital Voice Manager proggy that came with it, I would receive the popup saying "Framesize is negative value" so, the whole file would be corrupt and I couldnt even copy the file to my computer. So the only way I could get any information off of it is sit there and plug it in to another recorder and do it that way. But lately it has also started 'looping'. So, basically now the 30.00 I spent on it at WalMart was a waste. I would honestly say, if you need something reliable to record with, DO NOT get this product. Spend a little bit more and get a different one that possibly works.

Not a great product

All I can say is "BUYER BEWARE". I've had my recorder (RP5022A) for nearly a year. It records great, but getting it transfered to your computer and then into a file that you can actually open without it saying "not a valid Win.32" is a major problem.

This product was faulty out of the box. It would not even turn on. The batteries were good (new). I've never been less impressed with a product. It goes back tomorrow. No more RCA for me.

Horrible Product

Where should I start? Well, first of all I have had this recorder for less than a week and I already hate this recorder. I use the recorder to record classroom lectures. The first lecture that I recorded turned out to be perfect, it played back on the recorder just like it is supposed to. I uploaded the file to my PC, and again it played perfectly on the PC. I'm thinking that this is a great product, until I record my second lecture. I went to listen to it on the recorder, and it will not play over the speaker. It shows up as playing on the screen, but I never heard any sound. So I plug in some earphones into the recorder, and now I can hear the lecture. So I record some other short recordings (5 - 10 minutes) to test the speaker to see if they will play, and they don't. However, when I plug in the earphones I can hear the files being played back. Then I try to upload the files to my PC, and they will not upload giving me a message of "Files are corrupt." Do yourself a favor, do NOT buy this product.

I bought this product about 2 months ago, everything went well at first and I was very happy. About three weeks ago I started getting a "frame size value is negative" error when trying to transfer the files to my computer. It will play on the recorder but about 5 minutes into the lecture "looped" and kept playing the same phrase over and over for the other two hours. I googled it and it appears that are others with the same problem but no one seems to have a solution. I ended up losing lectures I really needed. Don't waste your money on this one!
