This is graphite or carbon. It can smudge which is great if you are drawing. It doesn't seem so great if your are bubbling a test. Keep a piece of white paper down where your hand is. You will not have to rebubble it, told it can not be read so come back in the summer or we are sorry but you will not graduate. Use Ticonderoga pencils to resolve any issue. Ticonderoga Have great value because of its many uses.

The pencils are fine, except one of the pencils in the pack was missing led!
This use to be the stand by which all other pencils would be judged by. Not any more. I bought these for my grandchildren to use in school but I will be buying something else. The lead keeps breaking. I keep grinding the wood down to get to more. Very sad. Quality has taken a hit.
Received this ticonderoga pencil box tear/destroy pencil scattered. Pictures attached below
Received item on time however item was not as described. The pencils were not sharpened. I checked several pencils and none were sharpened. I am very disappointed as I purchased for the reason that they would be sharpened. Now I have to purchase a sharpener. I would like a refund but I do not want to go all the way to Walmart to return pencils during this pandemic.
I purchased 4 packs of pencils and received 3 packs with 1 single pencil in the other. Packages were damaged and items missing
